Blue Jay Bulletin for Parents
May 4-8, 2020 - Issue 6
Dear Blue Jay Families,
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there!
The end of the fourth quarter and 2019-20 school year is here. A few notes/friendly reminders as we head into summer...
- A big thank you for returning student chromebooks, library books, and other borrowed school items.
- Teacher Appreciation Week was May 4-8...if you did not get a chance give a shout-out to your child's classroom teacher. Your words, even a simple thank you, fuel their rides with positive energy during this time!
- No preschool or kindergarten screenings are planned over the summer; this will take place within the school day next year as needed.
We are planning a reverse style "Teacher Parade" on Friday, May 15 from 6:30-7:30pm in conjunction with Cruise Night. Elementary and JH/HS teachers will be in the parking lot at least six feet apart on the east side of the school (near the new gym) during this time. Students, parents, and community members can drive through the parking lot, wave, and say their good-byes for the school year. Hopefully this will provide a little closure for both students and teachers.
Future dates...
- Full Day Preschool and Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for Friday, August 14 from 9-11am. This will provide preschool and kindergarten students with an opportunity to see their classroom and teacher prior to our first day back to school. More information to come on this event in the Atchison County Mail.
- Student registration - August 13-14
- Back to School Night - August 24
- First Day of School - August 26.
Remember...you have only one ride through life so give it all you got and enjoy the ride!
Finish Strong and Stay Positive,
Mr. Waigand
Preschool Registration
Please contact the elementary office (660-744-6294) if you have any questions. We are making plans to continue to adhere to the CDC's recommendation of social distancing and less than 10 people. We will gather basic information in a drive-up format near the South Gym. To support this process, current half-day preschool families will automatically be enrolled in full-day preschool for 2020-21 and will not need to come this evening.
