Dear Winter Park Band families,
Congratulations to the SOTW on a very nice second performance of the year this past Friday evening! I am especially proud of how the students carried themselves and behaved at LNHS and throughout the evening. Very exciting to have our first performance in full uniform as well, even with having to overcome a less than ideal seating arrangement.
THANK YOU to all of our parent chaperones and physical operations crew for all your work Friday evening, especially to some of the new faces who chaperoned for the very first time. Robyn Fodor, Heather Ribaric, and Keith Gavin led the way coordinating both sets of parent volunteers. Parents - chaperoning is lots of fun! You get to meet your student's peers, free transportation to and from the games, and free admission. Please reach out to either Robyn or Keith and sign up for an upcoming chaperone opportunity.
This week, our Friday evening performance will be at a home football game. A reminder that students need to have their 2021 Show Shirt, black spandex shorts, tall black socks (crew length), and the black marching band shoe. All other pieces of the uniform are stored at school and students will change into uniform when they arrive on campus on Friday.
During the school day on Wednesday, 8/31, and Thursday, 9/1, our photographer vendor will be taking pictures for our Band composite picture during all Band classes. For an example of what the composite picture looks like, our most recent composite is located in the Band room on the front wall. Marching band students must wear or bring a black tshirt on Wednesday, and will be taking pictures in their marching band jacket along with their instrument (either marching or concert). Students with an approved exception to the marching band requirement will be given a concert uniform to use for the photograph. Individual student pictures as well as the entire composite will be available for sale online near the end of September.
Extra Show Shirts Update: Extra Show Shirts are done(!) and will be at school on Tuesday, 8/30. Shirts will be available for students to pick up at the end of Tuesday night Marching Band rehearsal.

Hi everyone.
Thank you so much to the amazing volunteers who chaperoned, moved equipment, moved chairs, took pictures, helped students, and were generally extraordinarily helpful. Thank you to Heather Ribaric for stepping in to organize our chaperones, Robyn Fodor for coordinating behind the scenes, Jess Fox and the amazing uniform team, and Keith Gavin for organizing the OPS team. The band looked and sounded amazing! Please look at the remaining weeks to see how you can help. We love seeing new and familiar faces and hope each family will sign up for at least one week to chaperone.
Please see Julie Capps’ email about program ads deadlines, which will be September 8. Our first concert is September 29, so we need to get all ads, student dedication pages, and other sponsorships in as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to Julie, one of the band directors, or me, and we can point you in the right direction. The deadline came up more quickly than last year due to a more “normal” concert schedule. There is still time!
Please be on the lookout for information if you are a parent of a senior about senior night and help that might be needed.

PROGRAM ADS & SPONSORSHIPS FUNDRAISER - DUE 9/8
WE ARE QUICKLY APPROACHING THE DEADLINE FOR ADS AND SPONSORSHIPS. THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO WEDNESDAY, 9/8.
We are now in the final two weeks of selling and purchasing ad space or sponsorships in the 2021-22 Band Program. If you would like to sell or purchase an ad in the band program, or solicit a sponsorship, those ads and sponsorships must be ordered by Wednesday, September 8. Our selling window is shortened this year and we could really use your help in finishing this ad season strong.
Parents of seniors – this is a great opportunity to honor your band student with an ad featured in the program handed out at all band concerts during the school year. Celebrate their last year with a memorable tribute!
Supplement your band cost – any ad or sponsorship sold to a local business will be delivered as a credit to your account at 60% of the final purchase price. This can easily help you defray your financial obligation to the Band. Have a favorite restaurant your family likes to visit? Stop in and see if they want to support your student’s school. Have an appointment to get those braces tightened this week? Print out the ad flyer on the band website and see if the orthodontist wants to grow his business.
Additional information - Ad pricing ranges as low as $65 (business card size) and runs all the way up to $325 (full-page ad). Information packets were distributed at band camp. Copies of that packet can be accessed on the Band website by clicking on the “About” link and then selecting Band Boosters. Here you can access both some instructions, an order form and examples of previously run ads.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to celebrate your student or spotlight your business while earning credit towards your student’s fair share expenses.

There is a direct link to CutTime in "Quick Links" on the band website.
To access Cut Time, follow these steps.
- Go to CutTime.net and click “SIGN IN” in the top right-hand corner.
- Enter your Username or Email and Password You are now on your profile, where you can access our calendar and handouts and files. Click “Update Info” tab to input or update contact information. Don’t forget to click “Update” when you are finished.
- Click the “Finances” tab to view financial statements.

PRIVATE LESSONS
Unlike a full band rehearsal experience, studying with a private teacher focuses in on the student’s individual needs. Students who study privately once a week from a professional musician are usually those who excel and find Band more enjoyable. These students frequently earn positions in honor groups like All-State and All-County, and make entry into our more advanced bands like Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble I. Some even go on to earn college scholarships, even if they are not majoring in music!
