Graduating seniors visited CES on June 13th
CES students lined the hallways to congratulate our graduating seniors!
Congrats Class of 2019! We hope the Class of 2020 also visits us next June!
Greetings CES Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer break with your children. We are busy with cleaning, preparing for painting, preparing for new asphalt and preparing for new furniture. It will be a busy summer at CES, and we're excited about the many improvements, thanks to the Measure B funds!
We had an eventful last week of school, including Field Day 2019, several class trips and celebrations, a visit from CJHS graduating seniors, a rainy 6th grade promotion ceremony, awards assemblies and a 6th graders vs staff & 6th grade parents softball game! (We think the game ended in a tie...). We said goodbye to some fantastic 6th graders and will miss them greatly!
Summer meals. Please see the attached flyer regarding summer lunch meals being served to all students at CES from 11:30-12:30 starting next week.
Please give us your feedback. We strive to continually improve and we would greatly appreciate a few (maybe only a couple) minutes of your time to answer our quick, anonymous 10 question CES Spring Survey. (We are also asking 2nd-6th graders to answer a brief anonymous survey.) You can click here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3MWLDXM or below to get started. We hope to close this survey down shortly so please respond within the next week or two. Thanks for your time!
Start times in 2019-2020. Please note - starting in 2019-2020, our 1st bell will ring at 8:10, and the tardy bell will ring at 8:15. We will dismiss school at 2:35 (1:30 on Mondays). We will have supervision by 7:45 each morning. We appreciate the feedback provided by parents and have adjusted our start and end time 5 minutes earlier, instead of the 10 minutes we originally proposed.
2019-2020 teacher assignments. Please note - we made a slight teacher assignment change last week. Ms. Klimek is interested in supporting younger students, and those with dealing with reading challenges. She is currently receiving additional training to support these students. Therefore, she will be moving to kindergarten. Mr. Beilby is excited to fill her position as our 6th grade teacher. Additional teacher assignments are listed below. We will be posting our K and 2nd grade class lists on August 19.
K = Ms. Twitchell (TK & K) & Ms. Klimek
1st = Ms. Cardona
2nd = Ms. O'Kelley & Ms. Whalen
3rd = Ms. Geer (Mr. Goolsby to start year to cover Ms. Geer's maternity leave)
4th = Ms. Crowther
5th = Ms. Tantardino
6th = Mr. Beilby
Enrichment/Interventions = Ms. Bainbridge
Special Education = Ms. Preston
Opportunity = Ms. Bauer
Kindergarten 2019-2020. We are excited to pilot an all day kindergarten program this coming year. Students may ride the bus to and from school, and will release at the same time as the 1st-6th graders (8:10-2:35). Transitional kindergarten students will start at 8:10, and will be dismissed at 12:25 each day. (We offered all day K at my previous schools and felt it was a an advantage for students.)
We will provide additional updates throughout the summer via this newsletter or Facebook. Thanks for sharing your child with us this school year. We look forward to welcoming all of our students back on Wednesday, August 21 at 8:10 am. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to email me. I will be working through the end of June, checking in weekly in July and will be back in August. Ms. Nicole Peterson, our wonderful Adminstrative Assistant will be returning on August 13. Our office hours will remain from 7:30-3:30 starting on August 13.
