22-23 School Year, February
EPSD9 School Board, January Recognition of Staff and Students.
The following students and staff were recently recognized for their outstanding work by our School Board.
Words from Eagle Point High School:
Brian Grosenbach
He has taken every AP Class that he can fit into his schedule and is a positive student leader amongst his peers. Brian is well-spoken and is a champion for the underdog, standing up for those who are often perceived as ignored. He is pivotal in our music program serving as a strong leader in the band and Jazz Band. He is always there to take the lead of the band at football games, assemblies, and basketball games. The leadership he provides in the band supports our work in rebuilding school spirit. He also participates in the theater program. Brian is an active volunteer in the community. To top it off, he was just accepted into Dartmouth University. When faced with challenges he has risen to the occasion and has not allowed negative situations to keep him from moving forward. He is a survivor and a champion. Congratulations on this award.
Evan Setzer
Evan is someone who works many early mornings and late hours at his job, has impeccable grades, is a leader in the EPHS graphic production class, and puts in the many extra hours that are required from an ASB Vice President. One of the attributes that makes Evan a true leader is his ability to make sure everyone is included and their voice is not only heard but honored. He demonstrates this in every area, whether in his NEST class, an everyday class, or when he co-leads the leadership class meetings. This year Evan’s extracurricular activities moved him from the wrestling mat to the role of All Student Body Vice President. He has embraced this new role and entrenched himself in learning as much as he can about being a positive school leader who makes an impact and leaves a legacy behind for future classes. Evan has a vision for our school culture and everything he does helps move us closer to this vision. He is more than just someone who leads our monthly assemblies, he is also behind the scenes helping to create systems and structures for our leadership class to continue this work after he has graduated. This work may seem daunting to some students, but Evan has excelled in taking on this challenge. Congratulations Evan on this award as it is well deserved.
Yolanda Ortega
Our school family was lucky to have Yolanda join us last year and she instantly made a positive impact on our students. Her heart for her students cannot be contained! Yolanda works tirelessly to support our students who are still mastering English. She provides interpreting and translation, helps with family relations, and helps keep our English Language Development program running smoothly. She has been the glue in our ELD department as the new staff has joined the class. She reaches out to all of our staff and works across subject areas to help all students succeed. Staff, students, and families feel comfortable with Yolanda. Her heart for our students shows in everything she does! She is truly a champion for our students. Thank you Yolanda for everything you have done and continue to do.
Angelique Delles
I have had the honor of working with Mrs. Delles since 2013. Anyone that has been in her class or worked with her knows her philosophy about learning and that failure is not an option in her class. Students are not allowed to fail and the systems she has established in her class support this very statement. Her classroom is highly engaging and there is nowhere to hide from learning. One of her peers had this to say about her “She makes learning fun and engaging. Her students absolutely love her. I've observed her class and it is very well organized, students are having fun, and they are fully engaged in the lesson activities.” This is exactly what anyone will see when they enter her classroom. What many do not see is that she spends a great deal of time learning Constructing Meaning teaching techniques and has even become a trainer to help mentor other teachers. Ms. Delles puts her heart and soul into students and their learning- we are so grateful to have her on our staff.
Vitus Construction began prep work on the Agricultural Science Educational Facility on Friday, January 27, with the groundwork expected to start on Monday, January 30th.
EPSD9 is actively seeking donations for the project that can help defray the costs. Individuals and companies that are interested in donating will need to complete the Eagle Point High School Agricultural Sciences Building Donation Form. Thank you for helping spread the word.
