Clever Counseling Connection
Upcoming Teen Safety Training: September 2022
Message from the Clever Counselors
Hello Clever Bluejay Family!
We hope that your school year is off to a great start! The Clever Counseling Department is excited to continue our partnership with Micki Lane and Jennifer Schiffman from the Child Advocacy Center to bring the Teen Safety MattersĀ® program from the Monique Burr Foundation for Children to our students, parents, faculty and community. The goal of the program is to help keep our teens safe.
The program empowers students to spot and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, the four types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect), relationship abuse, digital abuse, and other digital dangers. Most importantly, it teaches that adults are responsible for their safety but there are things they can do to help adults keep them safe.
The Program is based on the latest research and has been reviewed and endorsed by national experts. All 6th-12th grade will go through this two part training beginning the week of September 20th. Below are the links to Parent Information Sheets that provide you with the information addressed in each classroom lesson, optional at home activities to continue the conversation at home and additional information available to Clever families as part of our participation in this program.
If you have any questions throughout this process, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's grade level counselor. If you are concerned about your child's participation in this training, please complete the Parent Opt-Out Form below and return it to the appropriate office before September 20th.
Thank you!

Clever School District partnership with Burrell Behavioral Health
What does that mean for Clever Schools and our students?
School-Based Services were created as an innovative approach to providing rapid access to care in the school setting. They have developed formalized processes for school mental health programs including onsite behavioral health providers through a collaborative team approach. Providers also assist in linking enrolled students to services outside of the school as needed. It has been proven that integration eliminates barriers to care and provides additional resources for school staff and families. We work directly with students, families and educators onsite in a few different ways. We provide School-Based Support Specialists and Clinicians within schools to offer individual and group services. We are also available for telehealth meetings if they make sense for your district. We strive to be creative and develop flexible arrangements to meet a variety of needs.
For more information, please visit the website or reach out to your student's school counselor.
