CLA's Havana Bienal

Opening week is May 21-28, 2015

Join Cuba Educational Travel and California Lawyers for the Arts as we visit The Havana Bienal

Meet the people of Cuba and learn about art from the Americas and the World.

The week will be devoted to meeting and sharing ideas with Cuban artists, curators and the everyday people of Havana. Contemporary art of Cuba, Latin America, Asia and Africa will be fully displayed throughout the city, making this curated event the only place on the Globe where you can see all of this work together in one place. For American art experts and aficionados alike, the Havana Bienal is a good way to stay in touch with developments in the visual arts of these regions.

What is People to People Travel?

In 2102 US President Obama reinstated People to People educational travel, which allows Americans to travel to Cuba, via a Specific License, issued by the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC). All programs under this License, issued to Cultural Journeys Inc. and include a full time schedule of educational exchange activities designed to promote meaningful interactions between Americans and the people of Cuba. People to People travel is not tourist oriented or self directed but it is both rewarding and unique. It allows participants to visit a wide scope of organizations, institutions, and community projects that provide a deeper understanding of Cuba, its people and its culture.

Cuba Educational Travel

Run by Collin Laverty, a leading expert on Cuba and U.S.-Cuba relations, Cuba Educational Travel organizes educational exchange programs and people-to-people travel for U.S. citizens and residents to Cuba. We believe our two countries have much to learn from each other and meaningful exchanges that foster dialogue can be highly beneficial to strengthening the artistic, environmental, medical, scientific, and social science communities in the U.S. and Cuba. Most importantly, increased travel and people-to-people contact will strengthen ties between ordinary Americans and Cubans.

Cuba Educational Travel's mission is to connect the people of the United States and Cuba. This is done through coordinating travel between both countries – in both directions – to facilitate two-way learning; as well as producing studies and publications about issues of mutual concern and organizing events in the United States that deal with issues related to Cuba and U.S.-Cuba relations.
