Binns Elementary
Family Newsletter February-2022
Happy February!
February is nationally known as Black History Month! The past two years have certainly been unprecedented ones—a pandemic, civil unrest, political turmoil, and more. Through it all, racial injustice has taken center stage. At times, we’ve all navigated uncomfortable conversations, but it’s more important than ever to dig deep and be the leader our communities deserve and teach our children to be the leaders our schools and communities deserve. Please spend time exploring the content below with your children. Have conversations! Speak truth!

PBIS CORNER
Hi, Binns student and families! It's Mrs. Wilbur checking in from the PBIS room. This month, Binns is going to be refocusing on our Binns ABCs to start off the year strong. The ABCs are our 3 main, all-encompassing values that we abide by. They are as follows: Always be safe, Be responsible, Come respectful. I have been spending time with all grade levels talking about what it means to be safe, responsible, and respectful students and community members. This month, I encourage you to practice the Binns ABCs with your student(s), and to talk about how they apply to your home and community. Students will be receiving shout outs if staff notice that they are going the extra mile to exemplify these values. Students can also be recognized as being kids of character. Every month, a character trait is focused on in addition to our ABCs.
Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well! Please keep your child home if you have a pending COVID test! Please call the school if someone in your household tests positive for COVID!
If you have any questions about sending your child or any COVID related questions, feel free to call me at the school anytime! I'd be happy to help!

There will also be class wide rewards like pizza parties for the class with the highest attendance percentage each period!
