Principal's Message
Last week not only saw the return to school five days a week, our seniors also completed their senior presentations Thursday afternoon. As one of the steps towards graduation, the senior presentation gives our students an opportunity to share who they are, what they have learned, and where they are going as they leave MHS. Our students continue to impress us and we are excited for what they will accomplish as they leave our campus in a few months.
The presentations did not come without a tremendous amount of work from Shannon Waterman who has been working since last fall to coordinate this year's event with additional COVID restrictions in place. Our staff each worked alongside a small group of seniors to help them stay on top of their tasks for their presentation and made sure they were ready to present. We had over 50 community members who were willing to sit in as panelists to listen to students in the afternoon. While we would have loved to have them on campus, we are grateful for their willingness to watch via Zoom and give our students such a wonderful audience.
The senior presentation is a great example of our desire to provide students with learning opportunities to help them as they prepare for life after high school. Whether a formal presentation, participating in a club or sport or learning new material in class, we continue to strive to make every opportunity one where students are inspired and challenged to learn and grow as they prepare to leave MHS and impact a changing world.
If you have further questions about the work taking place on campus this spring please contact me by email at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu or by phone at 360-398-8111.
Stay healthy. Stay safe. Go Trojans!

Senior Presentations
From a panelist: “ I’ve forgotten how much I enjoy watching these presentations, it gives me hope even in a year like this that things will continue and these kids will graduate and have wonderful futures despite having lived in a pandemic their last few years of high school.”
Senior Presentations took place on Thursday, April 22nd. The seniors and their advisors started the afternoon by sharing a boxed lunch in the advisor’s classroom before presentations. The presentations looked a little different this year. Students presented in front of their advisors and to other panelists that joined them via Zoom. Considering all the challenges this year has brought, the seniors embraced the changes. It was great to have a little piece of a normal senior year added to this crazy year. All the seniors did a great job! A big thank you to Shannon Waterman for organizing the event. Thank you to all the panelists that participated, we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you to the advisors and the seniors for all their hard work.
Important Message from the District Nurse
Dear Meridian Families,
Should it be necessary for your child to be tested for Covid-19, please be aware that we require a lab verified test result. Due to a high instance of false negative results we cannot accept an antigen, or rapid, test result. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Here is a link for lab verified testing sites in our area www.testdirectly.com We appreciate your efforts to ensure a safe school environment for all.

National Superhero Day
Marvel employees created National Superhero Day on April 28, 1995 to celebrate everyone’s favorite superhero. This is for superheroes only — we all know villains aren’t deserving of their own day.
Still, the idea behind superhero day is to honor those who serve and protect while fighting evil. No matter who your favorite hero is, honoring the real or fictional people that inspire us is a worthwhile cause this April 28.
