2024 FCS Legislature Day!
No Limits Nebraska is excited to partner with the 2024 FCS Legislature Day. This will be happening on February 7, 2024. This is a long standing tradition for students enrolled in FCS (Family Consumer Science) and involved with FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). This is a perfect organization for No Limits Nebraska to collaborate with as there is an emphasis on public health awareness within FCS curriculum and the events FCCLA particpate in at the national competitive level. The event typicaly has 60-65 students in attendance. They are able to submerse themselves into the legislative process through workshops, meeting with their state representatives and attending the legislative session happening on the day of the event. No Limits Nebraska will provide education in the morning about Youth Tobacco prevention and cessation, Jeff Soukup, Community Health Educator from Tobacco Free Nebraska will be doing an overview of upcoming and past legislation geared toward tobacco control in our state. No Limits Nebraska will have event bags for each student so they can go back to their schools and hold their own Take Down Tobacco Day Events.
The Nebraska Quitline is now offering a youth texting service with live coaches to assist Nebraska youth in quitting tobacco products including vaping. Youth can text "Start my Quit" to 36072. For live coaching, if youth are under the age of 18, they can receive quit tips. To connect with a live coach, youth will need parental/guardian permission. For more information check out The Nebraska Quitline site.
