5th Grade Band Notes

May 19, 2016

Thanks for a Great Year!

Thank you all so much for what truly was a wonderful year! The fact taht our band is bigger today than it was in September is just so cool and a testament to the students' perseverance and work-ethic. It was an honor to be a part of your kids’ lives this year and I hope they will take some great memories with them as they move on to the Junior High next year. None of this would have been possible without your support, both financially and emotionally. On behalf of myself and also Jr. High Director Lisa Kiener and High School Director Scott Gumina, thank you so, so much for all that you do to help make our band program a success!

We look forward to continuing the good times in junior high band next year! Our numbers look great for next year- all but a handful of kids are signed up for 6th grade band.

If you have any more questions about the end of the year or about band at the Junior High next year, I would be happy to answer them. I hope that you all have a nice, relaxing summer and I look forward to seeing everybody again in a few short months.

These students will be receiving their certificates and packets of information at the end of the year assembly on Wednesday. Please read the information packet as it contains everything you need to know about finding a teacher, taking private lessons, and paying for them. I have attached a copy of the packet below.

Summer Practicing

I know that summers get busy with vacations, camps, sports, etc. but even one day of practicing their instrument per week will go a long way in getting your kids ready for 6th grade band next year. Try to help them set time aside on a weekly basis to play their instruments over the summer.

How to get in touch with me this summer

I would be happy to answer any questions you have over the summer about next year/scholarships/etc. I will check my e-mail as often as I can at dschraub@lisle202.org. I will not be here to check my phone messages so please contact me through e-mail.

Have a great summer everybody!
