Updates from School Nurse Mrs. Travis

Happy May! We are almost to the end of the school year! We did it! With summer fast approaching, I wanted to remind everyone to bring your water bottles to school with you and refill them often. You may be getting outside more often during your classes so make sure you are dressing for the weather too. It can be warmer in certain classrooms and cooler in others. Wearing layers can help. Too much sun can damage your skin and cause wrinkles and sunspots. Trust me! I am now seeing the effects of sun damage from not protecting myself when I was younger. If you know your class is going to be outside in direct sun for more than 10 minutes please wear your sunscreen!

There will be a vaccine clinic July 29th at Smith Elementary School for your regular school required vaccinations. Not sure if you are up to date on your vaccinations? Just ask and I will look it up for you. See the flyer for instructions on how to sign up.

I hope you all have a great summer break and I look forward to seeing you next year!

Mrs Travis

Sign Up for e-Alerts!

In order to communicate with parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members, BCSC has an e-Alert system that will send text alerts and emails.

When you sign up for e-Alerts, you have the option to select only district messages or messages pertaining to specific schools. You can sign up for as many schools as you would like.

Students need to be in class to participate fully in the learning experience. As a school, we've set a goal of 98% attendance for our students. Please help us reach our goal by encouraging students to get to school every day they can!

Help us meet our goal and start the school year strong!

1st Period starts at 7:45 a.m.

Reminder to all that our day begins at 7:45 a.m. Students who are arriving to school as a car rider or driver should plan to be in the building by at least 7:40 a.m. in order to fire up their laptop and be seated in class ready to begin promptly!

Stay healthy!

We want our staff and students to be and stay healthy! When we are healthy, we are present and productive!

Remembering to practice simple daily steps can help prevent the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands!
  • Cover your cough/sneeze
  • Eat well and build up your immune system
  • Exercise to build your body's strength
  • Sleep and get plenty of rest
