Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 20th December 2019
Merry Christmas
A fabulous Nativity
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the Cathedral this afternoon for a very special retelling of the Christmas Story. Year 2 have spent a lot of time learning their parts over the last few weeks and it was wonderful to see all their hard work coming together as they reminded us about the true meaning of Christmas. A big thank you to all the staff involved, particularly Mrs Beckett and Mrs Jelf for their sterling work!
The Nativity at Cathedral School is always a special event, so much so, that this year the Daily Telegraph came to take pictures of the children's rehearsal! So as well as appearing in our update the children might be featuring in the national press!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Ripon Cathedral School. We are very lucky to have such a hard working committed team who put the children at the heart of all that they do.
Thank you to family members too, who have supported the children and the school this term. I hope you have a restful peaceful Christmas break and enjoy family time over the festive period.
Merry Christmas

Super Results
In reading, one of our key focus areas for improvement, we achieved an outcome that meant we were above average and performing in the top 20% of schools.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported all our children in their academic endeavours. These results are a product of all the hard work from staff in school and the continued support of parents and carers.
Singing at the Christmas Spectacular
Marvellous Christmas Music
Crime Scene!
This morning the police had to be called as there had been a strange 'break-in' in Year 3. There was snow, chewed carrots, reindeer poo and presents! Using all the clues, the children worked out that it must have been a visit from Father Christmas!
Attendance for the term
Attendance at school is very important as regular absence has a significant impact on progress and can result in gaps in learning.
Our target for whole school average attendance is 97% which is in line with national figures. So far our average is 96.02%.
These are the statistics per class for the autumn term.
Reception - 96.83%
Year 1 – 95.56%
Year 2 – 95.8%
Year 3 – 95.98%
Year 4 – 96.7%
Year 5 – 96.91%

Message from the Friends
Well somehow we have got to the end of the first full term of the school year! Where has the time gone? The Friends have had a packed year with discos, Christmas Fair, gardening and much more.
We can't thank the support from the school throughout all the events and the requests of printing and photocopying (we do a lot of photocopying) enough, plus the support of all the parents and carers within the school at our events. We couldn't do half the things we do with out volunteers and donations!
Bags2school went home in children's book bags on WEDNESDAY. Please can we ask you to NOT return them until after school on 15th January. We don't have anywhere to store them without blocking Mrs Rich in her office. The collection date for the bags is 16th January.
Our Grand Total for this term is ... drum roll.......
£2,243.40!!!!
Well done to everyone and thank you everyone.
We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a very happy new year.
