Message from Administration

Dear Tuscany Heights Elementary Parents,

We hope that you've had a great weekend! We look forward to greeting our students tomorrow.

I would like to call your attention to the Run for the Heights Eblast that went out earlier this afternoon. Since we are making some changes to Run for the Heights this year, please take a moment and read the details so that your family will informed . We are looking forward to having all of our staff and students involved in Run for the Heights this year. Thank you to our PTA for working to make this possible.

On another note, we have a young man on our campus that has been impacted with Moebius Syndrome since birth. His has a beautiful family, and he is remarkable! He has overcome so many obstacles despite the medical conversations they've had over the years. His parents have asked to share a bit more about his syndrome so that our students get to know him better. What an excellent way for this young man to share his VOICE and lead awareness for Moebius Syndrome! This Wednesday, January 24th, wear purple in honor of Moebius Syndrome and for our young man that has taken a stand to share with others. The staff and students know and love him! We want to support his strength and leadership.

Also this week, we get to showcase our student leadership roles and many of our student leaders as we have been selected to participate in Sean Covey's Leader in Me Symposium. Tuscany Heights Elementary will be part of the school tour that is on the workshop agenda. We will have about 60 educators from around the world stop by to take a quick tour of our campus. We look forward to showing them the great things that Tuscany Heights has to offer for our student leaders, as well as show many of our student leaders in action. We can't wait!

Enjoy your week!

Sincerely,

Tara Bailey

Spelling Bee

The Tuscany Heights Elementary Spelling Bee Champion for 2017-18 is Varsha Shashishekar. Varsha is a fifth grader in Ms. Sweeney's class. Our top spellers from fourth and fifth grade competed in an oral spelling bee that was broadcast throughout the campus on 1/18/18. Our top three spellers competed for many rounds before Varsha won with the word "micrograph". Varsha will represent the Tuscany Tigers at the City Spelling Bee in February 2018. Congratulations and good luck Varsha!

Go Kids Challenge

It’s that time of year for our students to participate in the Go!Kids Challenge! Go!Kids Challenge is a six-week program that encourages students to be active and make water their drink of choice. Students have a tracking log they will keep in their leadership binders at school during the six-week challenge. If they can accomplish completing at least 5 of the healthy habits listed for each week during the 6 weeks, they will receive ONE FREE 1-day ticket to Sea World! Students will be responsible for logging their healthy choices in their tracker by bubbling in each healthy choice they made. The Go!Kids Challenge will run January 15th through February 23rd. We encourage all of our students to participate. Parents, feel free to make those healthy choices with your students as well! Thank you for your support!

Be Our Guest- Johnson HS theater

Your family can experience a “tale as old as time” right here in our community as Johnson High School Fine Arts Department presents Disney’s timeless classic, Beauty & the Beast! Audiences of all ages will be swept away in what promises to be more than just a show, but an experience to remember.

Get up close and personal for a photo-op with the Beast, sample the “gray stuff, it’s delicious,” and let your imagination take you to far-off places as the talented cast, crew, and orchestra enchants you with an evening of story and song.

When a provincial girl offers herself as prisoner to a hideous beast in order to save her father, the fate of the Beast—a cursed prince—and his enchanted subjects falls into her hands. If she can’t help him learn to love and be loved before his twenty-first birthday, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. And time is running out. . . “For who could ever learn to love a beast?”

Johnson High School Fine Arts Department invites you to “be our guest!” Our wish is to perform in front of a sold out audience at each of our four performances. For best availability and convenience, you can purchase tickets online:

www.johnsontheatre.com

Our show runs through:

Thursday February 1st, 7:00 pm

Friday February 2nd, 7:00 pm

Saturday February 3rd, 7:00 pm

Sunday February 4th, 2:00 pm

All shows are in the Johnson High School Auditorium.

The address is:

23203 Bulverde Rd.

San Antonio, TX 78259
