CCSS For ELA and Literacy in History/Social Studies

CCSS Evidence Workshops will cover the following topics:
Identify & Study Evidence Standards - Participants will be introduced to the role that evidence plays in the CCSS --from textual evidence used to support an interpretation in reading to evidence used to advance opinions, claims, and arguments in speaking and writing at all grade levels.
Learn & Use Evidence Strategies - Participants will deepen their understanding of the ELA "Evidence Standards" in the subject of Social Studies and History and focus on using evidence grounded in text while writing, speaking, and listening. Best practices will be shared.
Explore Close Reading & Other Teaching Strategies Designed to Increase Rigor & Student Engagement - Participants will continue to deepen their understanding of the ELA "Evidence Standards.” Participants will focus on effective feedback and determine next steps for teaching as well as for further implementation of the ELA Standards in History/Social Studies.
