Butterfly School News for October
Happy Fall Ya’ll!!
Love this time of year!! Cooler weather, vibrant colors, majestic sunsets, healthy precious children… everyday, blessings are all around us! Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise! Psalm 48.
It has been a wonderful beginning of school!! I love seeing these sweet little faces every morning! Best part of this job is being able to walk through our halls and hear the awesome instruction going on in our classrooms!! Is this a GREAT staff of teachers or what?
Just a friendly reminder that school begins promptly at 9:00 AM. The alarm on my watch notifies me at 8:54 AM so I can have the doors opened by 8:55! Although our teachers are often here earlier, they are busy preparing for their day teaching your child! For this reason, we cannot open the doors any sooner! Being on time is important both at pick up and drop off times. Our school day ends at 2:00 PM. Again my watch alarm notifies me at 1:54, so I can again unlock the door on time. If arriving at 2:00 to pick up your child is difficult, you might consider taking advantage of the after-school care provided by some of our teachers- it is NOT associated with the Butterfly School but more of a favor to you if you are running late. Ask your teacher about this service, it might help you save money in late charges! If you are not signed up for this program and a teacher has to bring your child to me, our policy states that late charges start at 2:05 PM. The cost is 5 dollars for the first 5 minutes and 2 dollars for every minute after. So if you pick up your child from me and you are 20 minutes late, it could get expensive. The after-school care is a flat rate of $10 for the first hour which is significantly less expensive!

Budding Artists in Butterfly School! -Ms. Shelby
We loved learning about the primary and secondary colors in September. This month we begin to experiment with black and white, and how colors can change when a black or white is added to them (tint and shade!) We will continue to work on lines, and our Van Gogh unit will begin in just a couple of weeks!
Musical Moments -Ms.Kim
In music, I will be teaching the children rhythmic dialogs using our wooden sticks. The children will be introduced to thinking of rhythmic responses as "conversations" that go in a repetitive cycle. For example I might say, "how are you?" while I tap three beats, one for each word. The children will say it with me and repeat the rhythm. The next phrase might be, "I am happy ", which is also three beats. We will repeat those phrases as well as other phrases while tapping our sticks. We are also using music sticks to teach tempo, rhythm and the difference between pianissimo (soft) and forte (loud). Among the songs will be a few pumpkin tunes and a couple of spooky favorites! These exercises help the children develop their listening and fine motor skills and they are a lot of fun.
Chapel Chat -Ms. Debby
We're having fun praising God in chapel! In October, we'll praise God and thank him for the world he created. We learn about our loving and creative God when we look at the beautiful world he made. He thought of everything we would need, including a family! We'll listen to stories from God's book, The Bible, to learn how much he loves us and how he takes care of us. Our memory verse for October is the first verse of the Bible: "In the beginning God made the sky and the earth."
Genesis 1:1
I love being with the Butterfly children in chapel. They are a blessing!
Spanish! -Ms.Martha
HOLA!
In Spanish after singing the "hola song” we have been practicing answering the question : ¿Cómo te llamas? (What is your name?) by saying Me llamo __________(My name is_________) We are ready to start adding more phrases to our greetings.
We will keep learning new colors weekly and we will be working on the opposite abrir/cerrar (Open/close).
I absolutely love how the kids are starting to roll their Rs, when saying words like “rojo” (red). It is beautiful to see how being exposed to the language so early can help with their listening to different soundsMovement Matters -Ms. Lisa
The month of October the kids will be playing freeze tag , which is one there favorite games to play, Hula hoop games and ball movement for the month!! We are working on those large motor skills! I'm so excited to be the PE teacher at butterfly school to wonderful kids who always love going to PE.
Sensational Science -Ms.Tracy
October is such a fun month in Science. We will be outside searching for science when we go on a Nature Walk, learning about states of matter while making Halloween Goop, and making Pumpkin-Canoes erupt!
