Wisconsin Public Schools Need Your Support
The Mequon-Thiensville School District remains active as a leading public school district in the state of Wisconsin. Recently, our Board of Education has taken action in our community leadership by re-prioritizing a legislative platform to make clear our need to support our schools with increased state funding. The need for increased funding, especially in light of historic rates of inflation, means that many public entities, from school districts to government municipalities, law enforcement, healthcare, transit, and parks and recreation services, are facing an extremely challenging financial situation. Many of these entities have already been operating under tight budgetary constraints. Without additional state support for next school year, we may not have the budget available to afford our current levels of staffing and programming.
The resulting budget cuts would negatively impact the high-quality instruction and learning opportunities we offer our students at all schools, including Homestead. Without additional funding, we will lack the flexibility to make competitive salary offers to attract and retain the best educators. And the broad range of educational experiences we currently offer our students will be limited. The school district has provided much more information regarding the need for additional state funding on our website and in other forms of communication.
