All-State Choir experience still resounds for EHS singers
The five EHS singers -- believed to be a record number in one year -- who qualified for the All-State Choir each came home last month with lasting memories. They shared some of those lessons learned:
STEM students learn precision with computer code, then get creative
Students in Susan McMullen’s STEM classes at Singing Hills Elementary learn how to code, program robots and find out about how science, technology, engineering and math can lead to interesting careers. They become patient problem solvers and eventually branch out to explore and be inventive, especially with LEGO robots they can program to move in specific ways, play sounds and even say "hello."
Mrs. McMullen brings in guest speakers so her 3rd-5th grade students get a sample of what a STEM career might look like.
Fourth graders arrange computer code to create images, make characters on the screen move, and even navigate through mazes. It can be frustrating to get every piece of code correct, but when they do it right, shouts of "YES!" are followed with cheers from the class.
