Monday Motivational Moment
Lead4ward Instructional Strategy
Each week, I will spotlight a Lead4Ward Instructional Strategy from their Instructional Strategy Playbook! If you haven't reviewed this resource, it is a great place to see a variety of instructional strategies that can work in any class!

This week the Strategy is the "High Five Summary". It's a great way to have students show evidence of their learning!
Roos around Campus!
We love to see the great things our students are doing on campus through the week. Our students are involved in multiple activities through the week and we love to showcase them. The week leading up to Thanksgiving Break, and over the break, saw our Roos helping the community among many other things!
Our Roo Battalion had a great day honoring our Central Texas Veterans and their families at the Wreaths for Vets event over the Thanksgiving Break!
Amarilis Muniz Otero was one of two recipients of the Award of Excellence winners from the Temple College Art Competition! Way to go Amarilis!
Members of our Roo Battalion earned Community Service ribbons!
KHS Boys Freshman Basketball got their first win of the season beating Pflugerville 43-42! Great job Roos!
KHS Floral Design students sure did a great job with these floral arrangements they created!
Naritza, one of KHS' foreign exchange students, had to present about her home home country. She chose Mrs. Kasey Berg's class who said she, "gave a wonderful overview of her home country of the Philippines."
YSP hosted a military appreciation brunch for our students and their families!
The Roo Battalion academics team who knocked out Phase I of the JROTC Leadership and Academics Board!
Staff Member of the Month!
Our Staff Member of the Month is Nick Bernard! Nick teaches US History and Economics.
Monday Meet & Greet Activities!
Shout Outs
"For groups that have formed some relationships but need to be shaken away from the norm to achieve a deeper sense of community, create a shout out wall that mimics the way social media works. Give everyone an index card or large slip of paper to write down something positive someone else in the group did and pin it on the wall." You could also change it up and have them write down something positive that happened to them in the past week, over the weekend, or during the day!
What's happening this week....
Positive Referrals
At Killeen High School, we have a set of values that represent our campus. These values are School Pride, Relationships, Collaboration, Success, and Integrity. When we see our students embodying our values and completing positive, thoughtful acts around campus we like to celebrate them with our "Positive Referrals". In this section, you will see the students who earned Positive Referrals each week! Roo Pride is Justified!
