CASIIT Information Sessions

The information sessions are designed for our incoming freshman and their families, and current Battlefield High School students interested to learn about Battlefield's exciting new specialty program CASIIT.

Dates: January 16, 2019

Time: 7 - 9pm

Location: Battlefield High School Auditorium

At the information session, you will have the opportunity to meet some of our faculty, see the facilities and be impressed with our students' work!

Some exciting attractions for this year include:

● Science on Stage Assembly Demo and hands-on experiments by the Children’s Science Center

● Hands-on science with Gravity is Optional

● Stop by to build ships in water tank and design ships in the free naval video game, FLEET of the American Society of Naval Engineers

●Escape Room Bus

● Participate in a bracelet making craft which involves a basic concept of binary, accompanied by an online game which introduces binary and coding with WiSTEM

● Participate in a STEAM themed escape room with Victory Elementary

● Featuring the FBI and Secret Service

● Includes a number of activities for high school students

FTC Robotics

Our three FTC robotics teams are currently preparing for their second competition by working together to program autonomous driving, making a judges presentation, and adding to their engineering notebooks. Congratulations to Team 1885 who has advanced to the state championship by winning the connect award! Please enjoy these photos of the teams at their recent competition.

ILITE Cyber - News and Upcoming Events

AFA's Cyber Patriot's Round #1 of competition was Friday 2-Nov-2018. CASIIT hosted 8 high school and 2 middle school teams in this event. Five of the high school teams scored a perfect score on both Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14 images. Congratulations to all students!

COMPUTER SCIENCE Snippit of Learning

Our Computer Science Advanced Computer Studies class is currently learning how to compress data through Lempel-Ziv-Welch and Huffman endcoding.

Our Interactive Technology classes are always creating amazing displays, and boy have they been busy!

Photography II

Photography 2 has been visually recording sound by dismantling old speakers and playing heavy bass through them. They captured the paint jumping with continuous shots from DLSR cameras.

IT Graphic Design

IT Graphic Design are focusing on layout design, the Gestalt Theory, and typography. Students are building story boards illustrations, product designs, and typography illustrations. Student notebooks also reflect the interactive nature of the course.

AP Studio Art

AP Studio Art is exploring reduced color linoleum printmaking, and they are creating series prints with emphasis on color theory.

Hylton Performing Arts Center

This is a juried art exhibit with a reception for the students and their families on January 26, 2019. Each art teacher can submit one entry by December 7, 2018. We hope to have exciting news for our students soon!


The following two AP Studio Art Students were juried into the Off-the Wall Competition at the Candy Factory in Manassas. This is an annual show featuring talented students from Prince William County sponsored by Lockheed Martin and the Center for the Arts – Caton Merchant Family Gallery. Student work will hang from December 18th to January 25th in the gallery and then will travel to Lockheed Martin to be on display from February 1st – the 28th. There will be an open house and reception from 2-4 pm on January 5th.
