Hello Juniors! It's time to start the process of organizing your thoughts/ideas for the three Es (Enrollment, Enlistment or Employment) after graduation. This newsletter is to help you get started and provide information regarding upcoming events and post-secondary exploration opportunities. Resources will be posted throughout the year on the Class of 2024 Schoology page.

September 26th - Student College Information Sessions Period 1 & 5
September 28th - Student Workforce and Career Readiness Session Period 5
September 28th - College Fair at Cedar Cliff HS 5-7pm
September 29th - College Fair at Trinity HS 6-7:30pm
October 6th - Parent College Information Night 6:30-7:30pm via Zoom
October 12th - Career Day: PSAT and ASVAB testing
October 19th - Financial Aid Night 6pm via Zoom (Registration linked)
October 28th - Deadline to register for AP exams
November 10th - FAFSA Night 6pm via Zoom (Registration linked)
March 11th - SAT at Red Land (Register on College Board by 2/10/23)
PSAT and ASVAB Testing - Sign Ups Open
PSATs will be offered at Red Land High School during Career Day on October 12th from 9:00am - 12:30pm (approx.). College bound juniors should consider taking this exam. The PSAT is a practice SAT and scores can be connected to Khan Academy for a free personalized study plan. Additionally, students taking the PSAT are connected to valuable scholarship and recognition opportunities - including the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The cost is $35 cash or check made out to Red Land High School. Sign-up by October 7th in the counseling office - bring payment to Ms. Harris or Mrs. Auxer.
ASVAB testing will also be offered during Career Day on October 12th at 9:00am. The ASVAB test highlights students' strengths and identifies career pathways suited for those strengths. Students can sign up on the bulletin board in the counseling office. Deadline to sign up is October 3rd.
College and Career Readiness
Parent College Information session will be held 10/6/22 at 6:30pm via Zoom.
All students also have access to an electronic version of the College Admissions Information booklet on the Class of 2024 Schoology page. Paper copies in the counseling office upon request.
College Visits

College admission representatives will be visiting Red Land this year to provide information about their schools. The most up to date schedule can be found on student Naviance accounts (under "College" -> "College Visits"). Students must register on Naviance (at least 2 hours in advance) to attend. Naviance registration should be used as a pass for teachers and should report to the counseling office for visits. Students are responsible for all missed work.

Grade Level Promotions/Graduation Requirements
To be promoted from one grade level to the next, students in the class of 2024 must earn the following credits:
- Five (5) credits to move from freshman to sophomore status
- Ten (10) credits to move from sophomore to junior status
- Sixteen (16) credits to move from junior to senior status (credits must be earned prior to the senior year)
All 22 credits must be earned prior to graduation to participate in commencement ceremonies.
