East Hills Connections
School Year Edition: Issue 13: December 4, 2020
Connected. Together. Strong.
Hello Families,
As we continue to forge our way through these days of the pandemic, we can only hope things begin to look more optimistic. We strongly encourage families to plan for the worse and continue to hope for the best with regard to our health and the health of our community. We also ask that you maintain your vigilance using proper social distancing, masking, and hand hygiene as we all do our best to stay well.
Our Superintendent, Dr. Roy, has done his best to keep our district running and our community educated and informed about the challenges we face. With that being stated, please be sure to watch the videos Dr. Roy is producing and also check in to our websites, both district and school, for the latest information. This is particularly important now as the state has put forth more stringent guidelines regarding the pandemic and what a district's and school’s responses should be when operating in-person instruction.
This information can be found on our district and school websites, where we ask you to look first, should we suddenly have to go virtual due to a virus spread. If we would need to suddenly go to an all virtual model, the plan would be to run our hybrid in-person instruction virtually. A copy of this schedule is posted below as well as on our school website. If this were to occur, one positive aspect would be that our eClassroom students would be expected to join our hybrid children virtually each day following this same schedule.
In closing, please be safe and continue to treat everyone with compassion and grace. Also, be sure to treat yourself with the same compassion and grace you give to others. We are very proud of everyone for what we see on a daily basis. Be well, and take care of yourself and others.
Connected, we will achieve great things, tackle obstacles, and celebrate achieving our goals!
Connected. Together. Strong.
Be well,
Dave Horvath, Regina Braun, and Pat Tannous

Mental Health Series: Families Together and Families Apart: Managing COVID-19 Holiday Stress
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I hope you are having a great day. This past year has brought a number of challenges that leave us looking for ways to cope. To address the topic head-on, my colleagues and I have organized another event in our COVID-19 and Mental Health series, Families Together and Families Apart: Managing COVID-19 Holiday Stress, which will take place on December 10, 2020, from 5:00-6:00 PM, EST. Our panel of experts will lead a discussion on the challenges of coping during a relentless pandemic and how to access resources for managing mental health during this turbulent time. Please register in advance to receive a zoom link.
For more information see our flyer below (also attached) and email me with any questions. This event is open to anyone in the NYU community and beyond.
Do spread the word and I hope you can join us to discuss the important topic.
Best,
Rihan
Charger Challenge!
The Charger Challenge is the EHPA’s only traditional fundraiser for the entire school and
everyone’s participation is critical to its success whether your child is in the Hybrid Model OR
the eClassroom Model. The funds we raise will go towards needs for our students and teachers throughout the year. This year the Charger Challenge will be VIRTUAL!!!! It will be fun and
exciting! Look for more information soon once all of the details have been finalized!!!!Teachers have already volunteered to do some very fun things to encourage students to fund raise! We will ALL be entertained by some of these ideas!
A note will come home with students about the extension of the Charger Challenge. With the beginning of the year being so hectic, the Parent Association has extended it to January 15th!
Dr. Roy helps us get excited about our Charger Challenge!
