Te Whakawhitinga ki Te Kura Kaupapa

Nau mai ngā whānau ki tēnei wānanga! Kauawhitia will be a great opportunity for kaiako as well as the whānau and the kura community to learn about transitioning for our tamariki. Transitioning from Kōhanga to kura, Kura Auraki to Kura Rūmaki, and Te Reo Māori to Te Reo Pākeha.

Kauawhitia - Symposium

This presentation will draw together the results of three discrete projects conducted over a decade from 2010 to 2021. The first (2010) Ngā Whakawhitinga! looked at successful transitioning of Māori learners to schools, in both the Māori and English Medium fields (across a range of ECE settings and schools). The second (2017) Maori-Medium Transition had a primary focus to investigate whānau choices when engaging in Māori-Medium education, and the journeys of their children. The third (2021) Kia Hoe Tahi i te Awa Kōwhiria o Ako set out to explore the transition of tamariki and their whānau from kōhanga reo to kura kaupapa Māori in Christchurch.

The symposium will be held online on 24 August from 6pm onwards.
