Jerabek Book Fair- October 9-13

The Book Fair will be open:
Before school (8:15-8:45am)
After school (M-W, F 2:50-4:00pm, Th 12:10-1:00pm)
During Class Shop Time (Tuesday or Wednesday, schedule varies by teacher)
Lunch Recess on Friday (Family Friday)

Friday, October 13 will be FAMILY FRIDAY
Bring a picnic style lunch to eat with your Koala, then shop the Book Fair together! Volunteer clearance is not required, but all visitors must sign in at the front gate (not office) prior to entering campus. No food will be provided for families. Lunch times are as follows:

K,1st- 11:00-11:40
2nd, 3rd- 11:40-12:20
UTK, 4th and 5th 12:20-1:00

Visit the Jerabek Book Fair Site now to shop online, set up a Gift Card for your student or teacher (Literati’s version of eWallet), or learn about Literati’s awesome Book Club subscription program. Students can bring their gift cards to school or volunteers can look them up at checkout.

Important: Federal Impact Aid Questionnaire

This communication will be sent our via SchoolMessenger on October 11th.

Dear Jerabek Family,

We are reaching out to ask every family to complete a very short questionnaire that will increase funding opportunities for San Diego Unified students.

The information is collected to support Federal Impact Aid funding and is kept confidential. Impact Aid funds are designated to assist school districts that enroll federally-connected students. This includes children of active duty uniformed services personnel, children who live on federal property or in subsidized federal housing, and children whose parents are employed on eligible federal property.

Impact Aid funds become part of the district's general operating budget and support instructional activities for all students.

At your next opportunity, we ask you to please sign-in to the Parent Portal in PowerSchool and complete the short survey, following the steps below:

  • Select Forms from the left-hand navigation menu, then select 2023-24 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.

  • Follow the prompts and submit the form. Please be sure a confirmation appears before logging off.

  • If you need assistance or do not yet have a Parent Portal account, please contact Shana Toerien at Visit our support website for more information.

  • For parents using the PowerSchool mobile app, you can submit the survey using the app.

We ask that you complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey as soon as possible. Students will also receive a paper survey to bring home. Families may choose to complete either the electronic or paper survey.

By completing the survey, you will increase the chances of your child’s school receiving more of this valuable funding.

School Choice is designed for students who wish to attend a school other than their neighborhood school.

The Choice Application "Priority Window" for School Year 2024-2025 will be from October 2, 2023, to November 15, 2023, and will be part of the lottery process which will be completed in February 2024. Parent notifications of the lottery results will be sent via email in early March 2024.

If your student is in Pre-K and whose homeschool is not Jerabek will need to apply for Choice to remain at Jerabek!

To learn more about the Choice Application process, parents may attend one of the two scheduled workshops below.

EVERY student is welcome to join us for FREE Breakfast and Lunch each school day.

  • Universal FREE Meals start the first day of the 23-24 School Year.

  • Breakfast is served from 8:15-8:25 in the cafeteria.

Attendance is a Jerabek focus this year! All California schools are funded based on ADA - Average Daily Attendance. Prompt and regular attendance is important at all times. When your child must be absent for any reason, please report the absence using this Google Form or call the office at (619) 605-1700 (Press 1) by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Announcement

Please, Please, Please do not park, and leave your car unattended, in the 3-minute zone at drop-off and pick-up. This is a passenger loading and unloading zone. If you have relatives that drop off and pick up your student(s) please inform them of this important information!

Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School

The Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School, or FFO, is an organization similar to a PTA, made up of parents, community members, and staff who work together to provide students with added enrichment to their existing curriculum. Everyone who has a child at Jerabek is automatically a member of the FFO.

The FFO bridges the annual gap on hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding that is not given to school, teachers, and families due to service area’s median incomes. 97 cents of every dollar donated to the FFO goes directly back into programs and services for Jerabek Elementary families.
