Principal Update:

Dear Dawson Community,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year! Next week the Grade 3-5 students will be completing a social-emotional survey called Panorama. The district has grades 3-12 complete this survey to assist in learning the social and emotional needs to the students. Mrs. Bischoff and I will be facilitating this on the Chrome Books during the students' library time. Once the results are made available, I will share them with the Dawson School Council to help identify areas that need to be addressed.

I hope everyone has a restful weekend and keeps warm with the winter weather coming!

Always reach out to me if you have a question or concern.

Mrs. Wallace

Winter is here!

With the snow coming this weekend, I want to remind parents that to play in the snow during recess the children must have boots, and snow gear. Also, the students go outside for 30 minutes regularly so please send in hats and gloves.

On June 1, 2019, we will be having our first Holden Elementary School Golf Tournament! This will be a fundraiser for each of the 3 elementary schools. The tournament will be held at The Woods of Westminster Golf Course in Westminster. There will be golf and dinner after. To start off each school is looking to get 48 golfers or 12 teams of 4. The price will be $125 for golf and dinner.

We will be having our first committee meeting for the Golf Tournament on Tuesday, January 22 at 6:00 PM at Davis Hill in the Community Room. At this meeting, we will be splitting into groups - looking for help in Sponsors and Raffles.

We are seeing an increase in our Dawson Students bringing and wearing cell phones and smartwatches in school. Subsequently, I wanted to provide a quick note related to expectations for these devices.

Cell phones are expected to stay in a child's backpack during the day and are not to be out at any time without staff member approval. Students who have their phone out without permission will have the phone confiscated. For the first offense, the phone will be returned to the student to take home at the end of the day. Any additional offense will result in the phone needing to be picked up by a parent/guardian at school. I am requesting that parents remind students that they are not to be using devices to text and/ or audio or video record others at any time.

If your child wears a "Smart Watch" to school, it is expected that students are not using that watch to text, record, and/or any other function that may mirror a cell phone. If students are using texting features or using the watch in any way that would be commensurate with a cell phone, the same procedures as described for cell phones will be utilized.

*A 'Smart Watch' is defined at Dawson as a watch capable of texting, getting on the internet, taking video, recording, etc.

**Parents- If you have important information that your child needs during the school day, please call the office and do not text during school hours.

Thank you!

Please let the office know when you have a change in email/ phone numbers. It is a challenge to keep our database updated and it is extremely helpful when we receive emails from parents with new/ updated information. Thank you!
