About Mrs. Day
Parent Communication
Email is the best way to contact me. A smiley face report is sent home daily in the homework folder. The daily smiley face report lets you know the kind of day your child had, offers 2-way communication, and communicates upcoming events/activities. Please watch for monthly newsletters and check out our website for more information.

Reading
Our district adopted literacy program is Treasures from Macmillan/MacGraw-Hill. It is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and focuses on the five key components of beginning reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Reading is taught in whole group, small group, and developmentally appropriate work stations.
Treasures
There are 10 units in the Treasures program. Each unit reflects a theme, which correlates to science and social studies standards. The lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of each individual kindergartner.
Reading Homework
Response to Intervention
The goal of RTI is to provide optimal reading and math instruction for ALL students.
It is part of the regular classroom. There are three tiers, each with differing levels of instruction to meet the needs of ALL children. Please watch for a parent letter regarding more information about RTI to be sent home soon.
