MVLA
Message from the Superintendent
January 1, 2022
Dear MVLA Community,
I hope this email finds you rested and ready for the new year. As we return, there is important information that I wanted to be sure you have related to COVID-19 and efforts to keep our schools safe. MVLA continues to work with our partners, the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and the California Department of Public Health. We use their guidance and safety measures to keep schools open and continue in-person instruction. Below, you will find information regarding testing options and resources.
MVLA will increase the availability of PCR tests and extend hours as needed. Beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, PCR tests will be available at our two campus locations, the District Office and Los Altos High School. This is the same successful testing process we have been using this school year. Results are typically available within 24 hours. Information on this process can be found here: Testing at MVLA
Governor Newsom has announced that the state will provide access to approximately 6 million at-home antigen (rapid) tests to California schools. Upon return, every student will receive two tests for their use at home intended to supplement other testing options. These tests will be distributed via our school site staff.
Information about vaccinations, boosters, and upcoming clinics can be found at www.sccfreevax.org. For testing sites, please visit www.sccfreetest.org. The Santa Clara County Public Health Department strongly recommends families who have traveled, attended gatherings, experienced symptoms, or suspect Covid exposure to test prior to returning to school. If you suspect any contact with someone with Covid or exhibit symptoms, please keep your student home. Universal indoor masking, testing, vaccinations, and boosters are important safety measures that all of us can take to protect our community.
While the CDC recently updated COVID-19 isolation and quarantine recommendations for the general population, MVLA will continue with our current safety protocols and timelines until we have new direction from our County partners.
We look forward to seeing you on January 4th.
Sincerely,
Nellie Meyer
