CSCS Parent Panther Newsletter
February 10th, 2019
Mr. Anderson's Message
There is so much great stuff going on in our school we decided to do another parent newsletter this week!
Along with celebrations, there is information regarding our early release that occurred due to the threat of flooding last week and information regarding an uptick in illness amongst our children at school. It is important that we keep open communication and continue to work together to keep our children safe, healthy, and ready to learn!
Please enjoy this last week before February break!

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an empowerment program for girls in 3rd-5th grade – giving them skills and experiences to navigate their world confidently and to unleash their limitless potential! We teach girls life skills through a curriculum of engaging lessons and fun running activities including friendship skills, conflict resolution, self-confidence building, and learning to make healthy choices. The girls and a chosen running buddy, run two 5k’s; one practice 5k later in the season at Savona Elementary and a celebratory 5K run at Addison School with all the GOTR sites!
Online registration opens on Tuesday, January 1st at www.gotrst.org. The Campbell-Savona GOTR team will meet every Tuesday and Thursday 3-4:30pm at Savona Elementary starting on March 5th and 7th for 10 weeks!

All County Honor Band!
These 7 students have been selected to represent Campbell-Savona in the 6th grade County Honor Band sponsored by Steuben County Music Teachers Association. These students competed against 122 other students across the county by performing instrumental solos. Based on scores on their solos, they were selected as some of the best student musicians across Steuben County. They will perform a concert on March 23rd and gain valuable performance experience. Please join me in congratulating these students for all of their hard work and talents. I couldn't be more proud of them!

This is how we create succesful citizens making a positive difference in our school, community, and world!
Emergency Release Day - Floods!
To allow some perspective, we were notified at 11:35am that we were releasing early with the busses working in reverse load order from the high school to the elementary. In this period of time, the secretaries reviewed all safety location bus notes and distributed them, our entire faculty descended to the cafeteria to make sure every student was able to eat lunch, our bus drivers were called, loaded busses in Campbell and Savona and were on the road in just over an hour to safely deliver students home. All students were then delivered to their emergency go home location in just over an hour.
Thank you to all of our parents who were flexible and understanding as any emergency dismissal is high stress. Thank you for your trust in our school to make sure that your children are always safe, supervised and loved!
*Please to not hesitate to contact the school to share any positives and ideas that we may implement to continue to get better when emergencies occur and we need to get students home quickly.
Check out some of the pictures of our staff and students working together to get all students fed and prepared to go!
