Blaze Bulletin
Edition 32- Week of May 2nd
Greetings...
Dear Teachers,
Amazing, incredible, awesome...that is what a guest speaker said of our senior class audience after Prom Promise. She left encouraged and uplifted by the many sincere words and hugs. Her closing remarks were that the visit was "life changing". Well done senior class and staff!

Academically, I have a BS in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University. I was originally planning on pursuing a career with the FBI, but received a commission as an Army officer and was appointed to active duty. Once I was serving full time in our Army I realized I loved it and ended up staying for 30 years. In the course of my career I earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration and was lucky enough to be selected to attend the US Army War College where I earned a Masters of Strategic Studies. I retired from the Army in 2011 as a Colonel after commanding a brigade that was deployed to Iraq. Three year long deployments made me realize that I was missing too much of my children's lives, so I chose to retire rather than pursue promotion to Brigadier General. When I retired I was offered jobs within the Department of Defense, but I had a deep desire to serve and give back by teaching young people. I consider myself lucky to have landed at a place as wonderful as Blackman Hiigh School and Murfreesboro, TN.
I'm married to my best friend, Beau Spry, and together we have 5 wonderful children who are all thriving in their own arenas of life. They are: Patrick, 24; Lauren, 20; Tristan 20; Weston 17; and Blair 10. I love taking trips with my family, which is my way of building lasting memories. My most memorable trips lately have been Costa Rica to see the Arenal Volcano...whisking my wife away to New York City for her birthday...and going to Universal this past spring break and riding the Dragon with Blair! One of my all time favorite trips is coming up right after break. Every other summer my closest friends get together and do a "fly-in" fishing trip in the Canadian wilderness. This summer will be my 12th trip. The fishing is beyond amazing and I'm excited for the journey to begin again.
My favorite hobby is cooking. I love knowing that I can prepare a meal at home that is as good or better than what I can get at a 5-star restaurant. The agreement in our home is that I do all the cooking and Beau does all the laundry. This works out very well for me, because she is always willing to lend me a hand in the kitchen.
Little known facts about me? I attended the FBI evasive driving school...so if you're ever attacked in traffic you'll want to ride with me.
