Message from the Principal
Thankful
As we experienced an unexpected event this week, I would like to express how thankful I am for our staff, students, law enforcement, parents, and community! When we had to evacuate to the high school, our teachers and staff kept our kiddos peaceful and calm, with some feeling like they were on a field trip. When I was asked by the students why we had to leave, I told them, "Sometimes we have to leave the building so people can check it to make sure it is safe, and while we wait, we are going to watch Moana!" They were so excited. They did a great job sitting and watching the movie, changing their schedule, and just keeping going. So, thank you to our parents for letting us have your incredible kids at Mac El!
Thank you also parents for your patience as we worked through the process when you needed to pick up your child. It takes time to check IDs and bring the students to the parents. Thank you again!
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the break!
Weather Changes
Please keep an eye on the weather as it is changing rapidly. Please send them with jackets, warm clothes, gloves/mittens, and hats. If you need assistance with cold-weather gear, please contact the office.
As we had a 2 hour delay today, the weather can be unpredictable. We continue to keep an eye on the weather each day. There may be days that we will send devices home "just in case." This does not mean that a delay or closing has been decided. Determinations for delays and closings are made on a case-by-case basis with great care and thought for the safety of our students.

PTO Events and Information
Parent Involvement
PTO provides a great opportunity to be involved in your child's school planning and volunteering for events for students and staff. We recently sponsored the Scholastic Book Fair and as a result, were able to donate books to our library and classrooms for students. We are currently planning events and fundraisers. If you are interested in getting involved, please email macelpto@maconaquah.k12.in.us for more information. The more volunteers we have, the more events we can plan.

2nd Grade: Alexis Bowman
Alexis is an awesome kid. She works hard every day to complete her work and do her best. Alexis is nice to everyone and helps others when they need it. She is such a joy to have in class.
3rd Grade: Eli Hahn
Eli has worked through some struggles this year and has accomplished many goals. He is truly a good friend to everyone in our class. Eli never hesitates to help in any way that he can. He does not give up when schoolwork gets tough. Eli maintains a positive attitude and enters class each day with a warm smile and a friendly hello. I am so very proud of Eli and feel blessed to be his teacher. I can't wait to see all of the positive changes he will make in this world.
4th Grade: Alana Brennan
Alana is an amazing girl. She is so helpful to anyone that needs an extra hand. Alana is a great friend to everyone in our class. She comes to school every day with a big smile and genuinely loves being here with everyone. Alana works very hard to do the best she can on all of her work and then goes the extra mile to help others. We are truly blessed to have Alana in our class.
5th Grade: Whitney Barnes
Whitney is a great addition to my classroom! She always tries to find a way to add a little laugh to our day, and she always has a smile on her face! Whitney has a giggle that is so contagious in our room, it just brightens our day. I love how she is always willing to help anyone in need and never hesitates to include someone who is left out. She always tries her hardest to do her best on every assignment even when she is struggling. I am proud of how hard Whitney has worked even in her struggling area's in the classroom, and I enjoy having Whitney as a part of my class. Congratulations!
Attendance Reminders
When calling in your student's absence, please give the reason they are absent. As attendance is required by the state, it needs to be documented. Also, after five (5) absences by a call-in, a doctor's note is required for a future absence to be excused. Thank you for your efforts to get your student to school, as good attendance is vital to student success.
