Bransford Blast
January 7, 2018
Happy New Year!
I hope each of you enjoyed a wonderful break filled with lots of laughter, joy, and memory making! We are looking forward to having our Texans back at Bransford on TUESDAY. Tomorrow, Monday, is a staff workday. Our amazing staff will be busy preparing the building to welcome back our Texans on Tuesday.
If one of your resolutions for 2018 is to get more involved in Bransford, there are several ways to make that happen. We appreciate all of our families and volunteers!
- Reach out to your Texan's teacher via email. Ask if there is anything you can do in the classroom or at home to assist.
- Join PTA. Click here for more information. Your involvement in PTA can be as big or as little as your schedule allows.
- Sign up to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Watch D.O.G.S. spend the day or half of the day shadowing their Texan, assisting in the classroom, and being part of Bransford experience. Click here for sign up information.
Looking forward to a fantastic 2018, an amazing second semester, and a great week as we continue to build an excellent school together!
Best,
Jamie Halliburton
BES Principal
Play It Safe
GCISD offers the "Play It Safe" program for all students in grades K-5. The GCISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC is a volunteer council comprised of parents and community members that reflect the values of the district and community) has previewed and recommended these programs for all GCISD elementary schools. The curriculum and presentations are aligned with district philosophy. This program is a personal safety program and does not address human sexuality. Play It Safe is a child abuse prevention and awareness program that incorporates individual grade level, age-appropriate scripts and movies to teach children how to reduce the risk of sexual and physical abuse, and sexual assault. It teaches them to recognize potentially abusive behavior, provides the tools to respond to threatening situations, and encourages them to report abuse to a trusted adult.
A parent preview of the program will be held on Tuesday, January 16th, at 10:00 am or 6:00 pm at the GCISD Administration Building - Board Room, 3051 Ira E. Woods Ave., Grapevine, Texas 76051
If you are unable to attend the parent preview, but wish to view the material, please contact The Women's Center of Tarrant County, Inc. at 817-927-4040 and ask for the Play It Safe department. They will schedule a time for you to go to their center and view the videos.
If you would prefer your child NOT participate in the Play it Safe Program, an Opt-Out form will be sent home in January and you can return it to Mrs. King. Bransford is scheduled for the Play it Safe program on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
