Duneland Schools eliminate April 3, 2019 eLearning day
The Duneland School Corporation believes in the evaluation of programs and practices within our schools to maximize the opportunity for all our students to succeed. We have listened to the concerns of our school community including parents, guardians, and staff regarding the number of eLearning days in our 2018-2019 school calendar. After reflecting on the use of these days, we believe our students have had ample opportunity to practice learning in a way that prepares them as 21st Century learners. Additionally, our staff has utilized this time to reflect on curriculum and to receive professional development.
After much discussion, Duneland School officials have decided to eliminate the Wednesday, April 3, 2019 eLearning day from the 2018-2019 school calendar. This decision means that students will now attend school on Wednesday, April 3rd and will not stay home for an elearning day.
The one eLearning date remaining on this year’s school calendar is the Tuesday, May 7, 2019 election day. Many of our schools are used as voting sites, so we believe that it is the safest choice to have our schools closed to students on election day. We will utilize this remaining day with staff to continue progress on our professional development goals as students have one final eLearning opportunity for this school year.
We are thankful for the ongoing support, feedback, and partnerships we have with parents and the entire Duneland community. We will continue to rely of these partnerships as we move forward in making recommendations for reducing the number of eLearning days for the 2019-2020 school calendar.

Happy 50th Anniversary Duneland School Corporation!
January 1, 2019 marked the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the Duneland School Corporation. The Duneland School district was formed after voters from Westchester Township, Jackson Township, Liberty Township and parts of Pine Township agreed to the Incorporation of the new school district.
Since that decision to incorporate, the Duneland School has grown into an excellent school district and has celebrated many state and national accomplishments.
Check out our Celebrating 50 Years page for some new historical documents from the newly formed Duneland School Board of 1969.
