Avalanches kill more than 150 humans each year, most people are either snowboarders, snow skiers, and snowmobiles. Avalanches occur mostly within the 24 hours right after a storm that dumps 12 inches or more on fresh snow. According to some statistics, show that 93 percent of victims survive, if dug within about 15 minutes. After about 45 minutes only about 20-30 percent of victims live, in two hours very few people can survive. In conclusion avalanches can cause terrible disasters.
