Welcome Back to School!
September 2015
Dear Parents and Guardians of 7th grade students,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I am thrilled to be joining the counseling team at Timberlane!
A little bit about myself:
I graduated with a Master's in Counseling from TCNJ and was an intern here with Ms. Rogers back in 2012. We have communicated a lot over the summer and she has helped make my transition seamless as we begin a new year! Prior to returning to Timberlane, I was in Lawrence school district working as a school counselor at the elementary and middle school levels. I also gained great experience doing therapy with teens at a psychiatric group home. My passion is working with Middle School students and I am excited to use all of my prior experiences in my new counseling role.
In addition to working with 7th graders, I am also the Anti-Bullying Specialist. On January 5, 2011, the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act was signed into law to strengthen the procedures for preventing, reporting, investigating and responding to incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB). My job is to make sure our students know how to manage conflict in a proactive and healthy way so that they can learn to have positive relationships with others. Please encourage your child to come and see me if they are experiencing any friendship troubles.
I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we move through the school year. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Ms. Fertig
