A Note from the Principal
Welcome to Munson Elementary School, where we are all Toppers! We are looking forward to a productive and successful year of learning.
This year, Munson will have approximately 280 students in grades 1, 2, and 3. We will have 4 classroom teachers at each grade level, 5 specials teachers (art, music, PE, library and technology, and foreign language), 5 intervention specialists, 6 education assistants/aides and 3 Title I teachers. All of these professionals have the same desire to give all of our students the tools they need to achieve! I am looking forward to getting to know our new students and seeing those returning from last year. We have many fun and educational activities and events planned for the year.
I encourage you to visit and bookmark both the Munson Elementary and Chardon Schools websites. There is a wealth of information on both sites and they are updated frequently.
Please help us welcome our new staff members! We are so happy to have them with us!

9:20am: Morning announcements are made and classroom instruction begins. Students entering the building after this time are considered tardy and must be checked in by their parent/guardian in the office.
- 1st grade: Lunch 11:55-12:25, Recess 12:25-12:55
- 2nd grade: Lunch 12:30-1, Recess 1-1:30
- 3rd grade: Lunch 1:10-1:40, Recess 1:40-2:10
3:40pm: Dismissial procedures begin.
Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures
DROP OFF: Enter the parking lot from the north driveway (closest to Mayfield Road). Proceed down the driveway, staying to your LEFT, and around the edge of the parking lot. Starting at 9:10am, students will be dropped off at the sidewalk and enter the school through the back doors. Follow the line as the cars pull ahead; students may only exit their cars when they are next to the sidewalk.
A few tips to make drop off run smoothly:
- Please make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle and has everything they need to bring to school before reaching the sidewalk.
- Please have your child exit the vehicle on the driver's side, closest to the sidewalk, so that they are not near other cars.
- Please do NOT exit the car with your child. There will be staff members present daily to help and direct students and ensure that everyone is staying safe.
Once your child is dropped off, proceed back up the driveway, staying to your LEFT, and exit from the same driveway you entered. *Please note - the back doors close and lock promptly at 9:20am, at which point students are considered tardy. If you arrive to school at or after 9:20, you will need to park in the front of the building and come into the office with your child to sign them in.
PICK UP: Dismissal begins at 3:40pm. Enter the parking lot from the same driveway you entered, and stay to the left as you follow the parking lot. Once you receive your car pickup tag, display it so it's visible; this allows us to line students up in the order they will be called to cars. Once your child is with you, and staying to the left, follow the line back to the north driveway to Bass Lake Road.
*Note: If the red drop off line pictured below is backed up to the road, cars should continue down Bass Lake Road to the Peace Lutheran Church parking lot until traffic has subsided. Please do not block traffic waiting to turn into the lot.

ALL Munson students and their families are invited to attend the Munson PTO Back to School Bash this Friday, August 11 from 5-7:30pm! The PTO will serve ice cream treats, and you may drop off school supplies in the gym (classrooms will NOT be open, and teachers are not guaranteed to attend). If you are unable to attend the Back to School Bash, your student should bring their school supplies with them on the first day of school.
