Welcome Back

Are you ready for the Best School Year Yet? EVERYONE Counts!

Welcome Back

I am so excited for my fifth year at St. Anna School! St. Anna School really is my second home and I can't imagine being anywhere else. God doesn't make mistakes and he led me to this amazing little school five years ago!

We are planning the Best School Year Yet! Our crew have a renewed energy to bring fun and engagement to the classroom on a daily basis. You may even hear us talk about teaching like pirates! We plan to bring the passion, immersion, rapport, ask/analyze, transformation, and enthusiasm to all we do this year. We want our students excited to come to school on day 2 (and the next day, and the next...)

We've added a Chromebook cart for Kindergarten to grade 2 and students in grades 3-8 will still have 1-1 devices. The Chromebooks will be helpful as we launch the MAP Growth testing this year to replace Terra Nova. The MAP testing is completed on the computer by all students and will allow teachers to have immediate testing results that will be used to inform teaching and provide intervention strategies to help all of our students succeed.

This newsletter is full of lots of information and back to school forms. Hard copies of most items will be coming home in a back to school envelope on the first day of school. Please be sure to fill out a new Emergency Card and return to school. Other items in the back to school envelope include: spirit wear and magnet order forms, Boonli registration letter for school lunches (see below), hard copies for form sign offs if you prefer hard copies as opposed to the online form.

Big picture

Allergy Friendly School

Birthdays, Snacks, classroom parties etc...

One of our favorite things to do is to celebrate our student's birthdays! Students can come to school out of dress on their birthday (or for our summer birthdays- their HALF birthday).

Many students also bring cupcakes to school to celebrate with their classmates...

There are also other non sweet treats that students can bring to school to celebrate-

Have you thought of changing it up this year? Kids love popsicles, fruit or even non food items such as stickers, pencils, dollar store goodies etc.

Staff Changes

We are fortunate to have some new people join our amazing St. Anna family this year.

We wish Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Newton, Mrs. Duffy, and Mrs. Walsh all the best in their new adventures as well as Mr. Marcoux who is enjoying his retirement.

Mrs. D. has taken on the challenge of teaching 2nd grade this year. She is very excited. You won't believe the classroom make over!

Mr. Jacobs will be teaching 4th grade (as well as 5th grade science). Mr. Jacobs was most recently a 5th grade long term substitute but also has experience in grades K-4 as well as special education.

Mrs. Cook is our new 5th grade teacher (and she will teach 4th grade social studies). She has previously taught ESL in grades 1-3 as well as special education for grades 1-5.

Mrs. McGregor will be replacing Mrs. D. as a paraprofessional that will work with Mrs. Earley to provide support to students who need additional support. Mrs. McGregor is a former classroom teacher who is excited to begin working with students at St. Anna.

Miss Mann will be our new preschool 3 aide to work with Mrs. M. Miss Mann worked in our extended care program last year and is a recent graduate of Worcester State.

We will update our Faculty/Staff Page on the website as we continue to add to our staff for the 2018-2019 school year.
