Washington - Caldwell Parent Update

The Week of June 5, 2023

Message from our Principal

Hello Bulldog Families,

We held our final ALICE drill this past Thursday and it went well. As part of our safety practices at Washington-Caldwell, we hold four ALICE drills per school year. The drills range from barricade/lockdown to evacuation or a combination of both. The training our staff members receive, coupled with the instruction our students receive, helps increase our safety awareness, as well as refine our safety practices. Knowing these drills can heighten anxiety, we provide developmentally appropriate instruction throughout the school year to develop a deep level of understanding. If you have questions about our safety practices, please contact me directly.

Our 8th graders will be graduating on June 7. It is hard to believe that this year is nearly over and these wonderful students will be moving to high school. This class of 8th graders has done a remarkable job in setting positive examples to our younger students. Respectful, responsible and safe are three ideas and practices this group has exemplified this year. Our 8th graders have also done a great job in fundraising for their class this year. Through part of their fundraising, the class will be installing a Gaga Ball Pit over the summer as a new activity for students during recess. This is the 8th grade gift to the school. Thank you.

I wish our 8th graders the best as they move into high school and beyond. Good luck!

I have reserved office hours each week to meet with parents to discuss school improvement ideas, concerns or to simply meet with you to increase parent engagement throughout the year. Office hours are on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You may also contact me via email at kmccormick@washcald.com, or by phone at 262-662-3466, Ext. 166.

Sincerely,

Kevin
