Pennies For Patients
We are very excited to announce that for our 8th year Clear Creek Elementary is teaming up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society to participate in the Pennies for Patients program. We will have a little competition, have a lot of fun, and be able to make a difference in the lives of others.
This is a fantastic community service project for our students, and the Pennies for Patients program is not only to raise money for research and patient services, but also to teach children about cancer, philanthropy and team work. By pooling pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, our school will help in the fight against childhood leukemia, which is the number one cancer killer of children. Children helping children is what makes the Pennies for Patients program so unique.
When: The program will run from January 7th – January 25th.
How: We will encourage everyone to participate. First of all each student will be provided with an information letter, individual collection box to take home and collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters for their class.
The Competition: In order to make this project fun for our students, we will also include a little friendly competition between classes and grades.
- The class raising the most money will be rewarded with a class lunch provided by Domino’s Pizza and a special dessert.
- The class with the second most money raised will be rewarded with an ice cream cone coupon from McDonalds.
- The grade with the most money raised will be rewarded with a randomly chosen student from each winning class to hand a pie in the face to our Principal - Mrs. McCall, our Associate Principal - Mrs. Woerdehoff, our PE teacher - Mr. Hotham, and our Custodian - Mr. Rusty during your lunch period.
Information letters for parents/students and individual collection boxes will be put in your box this week. Once we return from Winter break on January 7th, we will place your collection tub outside your classroom door. A kitchen member will come by to collect, count your coins, then return the tubs each morning. Please listen during the morning announcements for your classroom updates (Thank you Dandra for helping us out). I hope everyone is as excited as we are about this program, and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.
