3rd Band Fee Payment - Nov. 16th
The next payment toward band fees due Monday. November 16th.
- Students without a school-owned instrument should only have $50 left toward their fee.
- Students with a school-owned instrument will pay another $75 toward their fees.
If you have any specific questions or concerns, please email Mr. Hudler.
The easiest and preferred payment method for safety purposes is to pay through Skyward. If need be, payments can be made by cash or check in the band hall. Checks must be made payable to "LCHS" with "Band Fees" and student ID # in the memo line.
Grades and Google Meet
All students are expected to fully participate during their assigned class time. Students should be playing along at home with what students are playing at school during class rehearsals. Students, both F2F and at home, will be called on to perform materials individually throughout the rehearsal. If a student does not respond or perform when called on, that student's participation grade will be reduced.
Region Band Auditions
Region Band Auditions will be conducted virtually. Students will record their audition materials and submit them through an online portal called MusicFirst. Students will have a window of time during which they can record and submit their auditions. While students are free to record at home using their own technology, the band staff will also provide opportunities for F2F students during their classes and virtual students outside of school hours to use high quality recording equipment on campus. We want to make sure every student has the opportunity to submit the best audition possible. More details about recording opportunities will be available to students soon. In the mean time, please review the following dates and materials for the Region Band audition process:

Upcoming Performance Requirements

Chaperone and Volunteer Needs
For student safety, GISD has limited the number of parent chaperones and volunteers that we will be able to have, but we still need your help! For each of our games this year, we will need 6 bus chaperones, two box truck drivers and a few parents to help in the student parking lot. Please remember that any adult who wishes to help out will need to go through the GISD volunteer process.
Uniforms and Gear
Students will wear their full marching uniform to all future football games. Students will need to have the following required gear:
Uniform jacket, bibbers, shako, and garment bag.
Black LC Band t-shirt
Black LC Band shorts
Marching Shoes with long black socks
Water Jug w/ koozie - completely filled with water.
Band-issued blue rain poncho.
Flip Folder and lyre (not purchased through the boosters)
LC Band face mask - a gift to our students from the boosters!
Important: The marching band uniform must be properly cared for while students have them at home. Uniforms should be hung up in their garment bag. It is recommended that students leave the garment bag unzipped while hanging for ventilation. Our marching band uniforms are dry clean only. The uniform CANNOT be washed in a washing machine. Our uniforms cost roughly $300 each. Uniforms damaged while in a student's care will need to be replaced at the student's cost.
More Important Information:
Marching Band Attendance Policy
Attendance at all marching rehearsals is critical for safe and effective performances. For this reason, it is the policy of the Patriot Band that students who have an unexcused absence from a marching rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in that week's football game. Absences will be excused for the same reasons the school might excuse an absence such as illness or family emergency. Absences must be communicated by email to Mr. Hudler in order to be excused. Communication must be from a parent or guardian.
Whenever possible, we will keep Wednesdays clear for students to take care of tutorials, doctor's appointments, work, driver's training, etc. The band calendar has been updated to reflect this schedule for the next several weeks.
Find the official band calendar on the home page of our band website. We encourage families and students to sync the band calendar to your personal calendar to help keep track of our busy schedule.
Class Attendance
We make announcements and take attendance in the first 10 minutes of each Google Meet. If a student logs on late, they will have been marked absent. It will be the responsibility of the student to reach out to correct attendance. To have attendance corrected, students should find the "magic button" on their canvas course home page which will take them to a Google Form they can fill out to request a correction.
Fees
Fees should now be available for payment through Skyward. Because of current circumstances, we have reduced the fees to only the Band Operations Fee of $200 for all members of the program and the Instrument Usage Fee of $100 for students who use school-owned instruments. (These fees do not include items such as uniform pieces which are purchased from the Band Boosters.) Fees can be paid electronically through Skyward, or by cash or check in the band office.
Because this new fee process has taken more time than anticipated, we are adjusting the payment schedule as follows:
September 15th - $75
October 15th - $75
November 16th - $75
December 15th - $75 or remaining balance
*A note about fees owed from previous years: Those fees will be paid through the boosters, not through skyward. Past due fees can be paid by cash or checks made out to be boosters or through the CutTime system used last year.
Required Forms
ALL MEMBERS of the Patriot Band must have our these forms on file, regardless of plans to participate in in-person activities. Please submit these forms ASAP. If you have not completed or received these forms, they are now available at this link: Required Forms
(It is okay to sign for your student.)
Private Lessons
We strongly encourage all members of the band to take advantage of private lesson opportunities this year. Lessons are incredibly beneficial to every student from Concert Band to the Wind Ensemble. They help students grow and improve individually, which is the best and fastest way for our band to grow and improve as an organization. This week the band staff will be reaching out to families who expressed interest in private lessons to help set them up and answer any questions. More information about private lessons can be found on our band website along with student applications and contact information for our amazing private lessons staff.
