A Windy Day!
This week the Kindergartners read “Pumpkin Town,” a place named for the seeds that were carelessly thrown over the town, producing an overabundance of pumpkins. We talked about how our actions affect others even went we don’t mean any harm. The kids imagined what could happen next and created pictures with other fruits and vegetables covering the town.
In Math this week, we made cool tools called Rekenreks. A rekenrek is a calculating frame designed to help children generate a variety of addition and subtraction strategies. Students can use the rekenreks to develop computation skills or solve contextual problems. They are already very good at showing numbers quickly and composing ten.
Personal Learning Plans
This week you received your child's first Personal Learning Plan (PLP). We have been working hard with your child to determine a good goal for each area of learning, but we also welcome your input. Please be sure to read the letter about PLPs and let us know if you have any questions.
