A newsletter for Walnut Hills High School
March 12, 2021
Dear Walnut Hills High School Families,
We are excited to welcome OUR students back with the phased-in 5-day per week in-person learning that our Cincinnati Public School Board voted to approve during last Monday’s school board meeting. We want to share with you what those plans look like and remind you that this phased-in approach will begin AFTER spring break, the week of March 29th. In addition, this email will lay out the options available for families who need an alternative choice to in-person learning for the fourth quarter.
Beginning Wednesday, March 31, students in grades 7-9 will return to in-person classes. This gives our younger students time to learn and put into practice all safety protocols, become familiar with the school layout if they are new, and get comfortable returning to a new rhythm of in-person learning. Be aware this first week back begins on WEDNESDAY, March 31. An extra day is needed to ensure the school is properly prepared for a safe and healthy return.
Beginning Tuesday, April 6, we will welcome back students in grades 10-12. Older students who are more familiar with protocols and school layout will join the 7th-9th graders and begin in-person this week. Be aware school begins this week for all students on Tuesday, April 6. There is no school for students on Monday, April 5.
We want parents to know that they have choices for their students’ learning that matches with their students’ needs and preferences:
- 5-day per week in-person learning
To learn more about our return to 5-day in-person learning, click here.
5-day per week concurrent learning, or “streaming”
Concurrent learning means students may stay at their current school for a 5-day per week distance learning experience that mirrors the in-person classroom experience.
Concurrent learning is students joining their class through Google Meets remotely with the ability to interact with their teacher and students that are in the classroom.
Cincinnati Digital Academy (CDA)
To learn more about CDA and how to register, click here.
In order to make the best plans for our students and their return, we are requesting families who want their child to finish the year in concurrent learning to fill out a Commitment Request.
Please note that this commitment is for the remainder of the year.
Completed forms must be emailed or turned into the school office by Friday, March 19. That is ONE WEEK FROM TODAY.
Thank you for your continued flexibility and support. We have been in this together for the entire year, and we look forward to supporting each other in this next phase. Please continue to check your emails and listen to our robocalls for updated information as we move forward together.
Sursum ad Summum,
