25 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
Happy 2nd Sunday of Advent!
Our first week of Advent was a fun and busy one at SFCS. The 5th grade students did a wonderful job with their musical and Coach Weaver ran another successful tournament with the KOC Tip-off Classic!
Today was a great day with the FSA's 1st ever Festival of the Trees! They had a good turnout and the activities for the children and adults were very fun. Thank you to all the parent volunteers that decorated trees and helped with the event. Also thank you to Mrs. Sweeney for cooking her famous crepes! Thank you to Mrs. Sweeney and Mrs. Wolf in preparing students for a beautiful Nativity and caroling. More pictures of the event will be posted this week.
There are still many activities left to gather and celebrate the birth of our Savior with two weeks left before we break for Christmas recess. Next Saturday is the FSA's Reindeer Run. The race begins at 8:00am.
On Thursday, December 16th at 6:00pm with be our annual Advent Concert! It will be in the gym. In acknowledgement of the sensitivity of the times we will not be gathering the students before the concert and processing in from the middle school hallway. All students will be sitting with their families this year in the audience. When it is time for your child(ren)'s class to perform Mrs. Sweeney or Mrs. MacDonald will call them up to the stage. We ask that all students sit with their families during the concert. This includes the middle schools students. We do not want large groups of students sitting together without a parent during the concert. Masks will be optional for attendees during the concert and students will not be wearing masks while they perform. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above and do not want to have your child participate, then we ask that you email Mrs. McVey at the front office at Theresa.McVey@sfcshhi.com so Mrs. Sweeney can prepare with the children accordingly. We are looking forward to bringing the concert back this year after not being able to have it last year.
The morning after the Advent Concert on Friday, December 17th is the FSA's Breakfast with Santa. This will be the last day before break for Christmas Recess. Class parties will occur in the afternoon and your classroom teacher or room mother will be in contact with their respective classes with any details.
We have been doing really well with very minimal cases in our school community. Right now we have one student who is in quarantine for being a close contact with a family member. Please continue to keep your child(ren) home if they are not feeling well.
Have a great evening!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope
Principal

- Third Sunday of Advent
Pre-K
Kindergarten
Kindergarten was excited to begin the Advent season as we celebrated this first week filled with hope. We have added a Nativity center to Imagination Stations where the students are building and retelling the story of Jesus’s birth. They have enjoyed using the blocks to create the road that Mary and Joseph travelled on to Bethlehem.
We continue to travel around the world using our map, globe and imagination to learn about different Christmas traditions and make connections to things we do at home. The kindergartners are very hopeful St. Nicholas will visit us Sunday evening and leave us a treat in our shoes we created, just like he does for children in the Netherlands and France! We cannot wait for more faith, fun and learning next week!
5th Grade Play
8th Grade Social Studies
Coach's Corner
Tip-Off Classic Tournament was a huge success! “The Wolf Den” was packed with huge crowds all week as (16) local teams competed in both a boys’ and girls’ division. Our Senior Boys (7/8th graders) took home the second place trophy while our Senior Girls look like a team to be reckoned with this season! A big THANK YOU to our SFCS Athletic Sponsors, youth volunteers and team parents for helping out throughout the long week! A special “shout out” to Lisa Sweeney and the school’s Bake Club for their outstanding job with concessions!
This is the last week of SFCS Basketball Developmental Program Signups!!! Our program is in its second year and geared for kids in pre-k through 4th grade. Since Upward Basketball is definitely a “no-go” again this year, there will be limited options on the island for young hoopsters this winter. Our Saturday morning program is fast-paced and a fun way for kids to learn some basic basketball skills while also having the opportunity to play some small-sided games. We hope that you’ll consider joining us again this January and February. Due to safety precautions, program space will be limited. Click on the link to print out a copy of the Registration Packet.
Searching for Boys’ and Girls’ Head Soccer Coaches for the spring…the soccer season is only March and April. Without a field here on campus, practices are on Chaplin Park. It’s a lot of fun getting back outside with the kids after the cold winter months! Please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com if you are interested.
Looking for help during HOME BASKETBALL NIGHTS…need an adult volunteer to help supervise the gym on HOME game nights. Due a lack of coaches, I will be coaching both Senior Basketball teams this year…it’s the reality of the situation in order to have (4) basketball teams this season. This person would oversee gym operations such as turn off scoreboard and lock the gym doors, as well as, support various parent volunteers on game nights from 3:30-6:30/7pm. If interested, please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com.
Join the Official School Facebook page…stay connected through pictures and commentary on all the latest happenings with our school teams. Any upcoming special events will be posted here as well. So please join our Facebook page today!!

Fall Harvest Garners 1,500 lbs of Donations
The JPII Fall Harvest, benefiting Mercy Mission in Hardeeville, was a huge success with over 1,500 lbs of food collected! “Students were asked to bring in canned goods,” said JPII assistant principal for student life, Andrea Williamson. “We usually specify which House brings in canned fruits, vegetables, etc., but this year we did not since the Mission pantry is critically low. Our goal was to stock the shelves before Thanksgiving and Christmas, and as usual, our students, parents, faculty, and staff did not disappoint. Our prayer is that we have made, and continue to make, a large impact.” Donations are still being accepted in the JPII front office.
