Student of the Week Volunteers Needed

Please consider volunteering for Student of the Week interviews. You would get to sit down with students from ALL grade levels, ask them some questions, and then write them down. This is such a fun opportunity to hear their answers - some of them will even make you laugh out loud! It's a very quick process from start to finish. You would need to commit from 9:15 to 10:15 am. If you are interested, use the link below to sign up!

We need over 200 parents, grandparents, and older siblings to staff the carnival. There are a variety of shifts and positions, so there is time to volunteer AND enjoy the carnival. Please use the signup genius page https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A49AAAA23A0FF2-maple7 to volunteer.

For volunteer questions please contact Emily Stapleton stapletonemily@hotmail.com or (304) 841-5653

Great Gatherings are fantastic get-togethers hosted by Maple Dale families. They give us a chance to socialize outside of our normal school schedule, and raise money for our school at the same time.

You can be involved by either hosting or attending a Great Gathering.

If you choose to host, you can decide when/where the gathering will be held. Gatherings can be open to families, just for adults, couples activities, or be gender or grade specific.

Who can host a GREAT GATHERING?

Anyone can host!

You can host by yourself or with a friend our group.

If you want to host but aren't quite sure what to do, email us at mapledalecarnival@gmail.com. We have lots of ideas from past Great Gatherings events.

How do I sign up to host a GREAT GATHERING?

All Pro Dads - 4/17

Please join us at the Maple Dale Elementary All Pro Dads breakfast on Wednesday April 17th from 8-9 am in the school cafeteria. This free monthly breakfast is sponsored by fathers, Chick-fil-A, and the PTO.

The UC Bearcat mascot and several UC students will be our special guests!

The meeting theme is about being a courageous up-stander. Negative bullying behaviors are all around us. Many will ignore bullying and just go on with life if it doesn't have a personal direct impact but doing so sends a message that you're okay with someone's hurtful treatment of another person. It teaches children to ignore bullying and pretend nothing happened. This fuels bullying to continue and spread.

If attending, please RSVP by Sunday April 14th via the link below so the correct amount of food is ordered.

Reminders- please do not walk your child to their classroom, please park down at the district offices to free parking spaces for staff members, and please be aware that a school delay or closure cancels the breakfast.

Student Information for Classroom Placement for Current Kindergartners through 3rd Graders!

The placement of students each year is a task that our staff takes very seriously. Please click here to complete this optional form. This form is optional for parents. While considering your child’s learning characteristics and social interaction style, your child’s current teachers are carefully placing your child in a friendly, collaborative group with other children with whom he/she works well. If you would like your child to be placed with a specific peer, please complete the form below. Every effort will be made to place your child with one of the students listed below. Please list six names to ensure a classroom placement with a peer. If fewer than six names are provided, the likelihood of your child being placed with a peer listed is decreased.

Please complete by April 19, 2019.

Green Team Tip of the Week

Next week is Earth Week at Maple Dale! On Monday, each child will bring home a sheet with things they can do at home. Please help them complete the activities and then return the sheet the following week (April 23) and they’ll get a little seed sheet they can plant at home. Wednesday will be Waste Free Lunch day. While we certainly hope you make an effort to pack a waste free lunch every day, every child with a waste free lunch on Weds, April 17 will be entered into a raffle to win reusable containers.

Bus Walk Bike Day - April 18

Bus Walk Bike day at EH Greene is Thursday, April 18. All Greene students will have an opportunity to arrive at school on foot or bike. Volunteers Needed - COPE

Sycamore Community Schools is seeking Adult Volunteers

April 22nd - Professional Development Day

The certified staff of Sycamore Community Schools will be participating in a professional learning activity called “Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)” led by facilitators from Think Tank Inc. on April 22nd. The purpose of the activity is to engage our staff in authentic, empathy-building experiences to better understand the daily struggles some of our families may experience as a result of economic fatigue.

Each session will include 120 staff participants. We are in need of 20 volunteers (COPE Resource Leaders) for each session to “role play” various community and business members. As a COPE Resource Leader, you will be given your role by the COPE facilitator during training. Training will be provided in the first hour of the volunteer shift. The time commitment will be approximately 3-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide babysitting services on this day, therefore volunteers are asked not to bring their children along.

Volunteer Times and Locations

Morning Session: 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Junior High Gym and High School Gym

Afternoon Session: 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Greene Gym and Maple Dale Gym
