Curriculum
Our last math unit of fifth grade will focus on Measurement and Geometry. We will learn to convert units of measurement for length, liquid volume and weight. Reminder to access Think Central for any needed materials.
Reading:
We are completing our partnerships and will move on to our nonfiction unit. Students will learn habits and skills essential for informational reading; respond to texts and share the topics they are studying with others.
Writing:
Nonfiction writing has created a wave of excitement in our class. We are discussing topics and will start to draft chapters for our informational books. Please note that students will need to do additional research at home as our computer lab and Chrome Books are being used for M-Step testing.
Social Studies:
We will spend a short time learning about slavery from the point of view of West Africans. Following, we will learn the events that created tensions between the colonies and Britain from 1754 to the end of 1774.
Science:
Students completed their mini unit on cells. We are beginning to work on our Human Body Systems unit with the focus on the Circulatory System.
