Love, Grow, Teach, Eastside
Week of January 15th
Confidence instead of Comfortable
As I discussed last week, we must begin to have confidence, but not become comfortable. Not only do we need to build confidence as educators, but we must build confidence in our students. The reflection and resolutions that each grade level discussed last week all pointed towards the need to continue to build rigor with the content and differentiate for the variety of learners at Eastside. I want you to encourage confidence in your students and keep our high expectations in all classrooms. Students cannot get comfortable. I know with the cold weather students can feel tempted to lay their heads on their desks. I have seen some heads on desk, as I have been popping in classrooms. This is not something we can let students do. We must push ourselves and our students out of our comfort zone this semester.
“Every time you push out of your comfort zone to learn hard things, your brain grows new connections and you get smarter.” - Carol Dweck
We do not have time to get comfortable because...
We have 23 instructional days until Parent/Teacher conferences. (Valentines' Day doesn't count.
We have 42 instructional days until Spring break.
After Spring break we only have 30 more days before testing!
Make every day count!
To Do List for the Week:
2. Dibels for mid year continues this week. All dibels must be complete by Friday. Interventionists help each other to get all grades completed and entered in the spreadsheets.
3. ACT Aspire Interim II begins Monday. Be sure to check the schedule I have sent out and the email from Ms. Hogg.
4. Team Time will be as follows with Ms. Bailey:
Tuesday- Kg and 3rd grade
Wednesday - 1st and 4th grade
Thursday - 2nd and 5th grade
See the Google doc I sent out with the details of team times and block times. Ms. Bailey wanted a little extra time to work with each team. This schedule will allow for this. Be sure to bring any curriculum materials to plan a CFA. Thank you for everyone being flexible with this unique schedule.
5. Make sure you have signed up for your Mid Year PGP review. Let me know if you have questions. In EdReflect, it will show a date and time, but go by the date and time you signed up for on the Google doc.
6. Global PD this week. You may select one of these videos to watch and comment on. I am so proud of all of you using this resource. Several of you have watched several videos that I have not required you to watch. Continue to use this great resource to grow professionally.
