School Is Starting Soon!!
We are so excited to welcome back our returning Bison, and meet those who are new to our "herd!" School starts August 16. Our staff is busy preparing for the return of our students and we are ready to welcome them.
We ask that you be sure you update your email and phone number with us. Please complete the Powershool Update. You can find a link below. Each week, this newsletter will be sent out on Fridays with information about upcoming events and happenings at Bethke. These newsletters will also be posted on the Bethke website and linked to our Facebook page. This is a great resource for you and your family to stay connected with events on our campus.
There are several items below that will be helpful as you plan for Aug 16th including Meet the Teacher information, school supply list and arrival/dismissal information.
Please look for information to be coming directly from your child's teacher as well.

Meet the Teacher is a come-and-go event! Come anytime during your designated timeframe!
You may purchase spirit wear, HOUSE shirts and lanyards, and exchange dismissal tags for 1 tag (if you have siblings). There will be Food Trucks outside for our evening time slots.
Please bring your SCHOOL SUPPLIES!
Please pay close attention to the flow of traffic for arrival/dismissal for the safety of our students.
Students in special programs will follow the procedures provided by program teachers.
***All cars should utilize the car rider line for student drop off/pick up. Parking, dropping students off, or making U-turns on N. Ventana or Ventana Grove is a safety concern for students and staff. ***
Please bring your patience at arrival/dismissal as we are teaching routines and procedures.
Dismissal Procedures
Car riders: All students are issued a dismissal number and tag. Car riders must display this tag at dismissal so that our staff can record the number and line students up inside for efficiency. Cars should pull up as far as possible in the lines. Students will not be released without a tag or to an emergency contact. Parents/guardians without a tag must park and enter the building after dismissal to produce a valid ID.
Walkers/bikers: All students are issued a dismissal number and tag. Parents/guardians of students in grades PK-1 will need to display their dismissal tag to staff for students to be released. Parents who do not have a tag, or who are late will need to enter the building after dismissal is over to produce a valid ID.
Bus Riders: All bus riders will need to scan their SMART tags upon entering the school bus. SMART tags will be attached to student backpacks by classroom teachers. Parents/guardians of Kindergarten students will need to be at the bus stop to receive students in the afternoons, or students will be brought back to campus. Parents must be available to pick-up immediately.
Daycare/YMCA: Students will be escorted to their daycare van or to the cafeteria for YMCA. Please ensure that your child’s teacher has the appropriate daycare information. Students in the YMCA will need to be picked up through the side cafeteria doors.
Changes in Transportation
ALL CHANGES MUST BE MADE BY 1:30 P.M. ON THE DAY OF THE CHANGE. This allows our staff time to process the change and notify teachers.
Be sure to include student name (first and last), Homeroom teacher name, and date of the change.
You may also complete THIS CHANGE OF TRANSPORTATION LINK by 1:30 p.m.
For emergencies only, you may email cbecommunications@katyisd.org from a registered email on your student's account and attach a picture of parent/guardian ID by 1:30 p.m.
Walkers/Bikers will only be held inside if lightning is present, so students may want to bring rain gear if rain is expected. Please ensure that any changes due to expected weather are made on time by 1:30 p.m. or it is assumed they will go home their normal way.
Backpack Tags
These tags and ID's are very important for Bethke staff to know how students are dismissed. Please help us keep them intact. Should they fall off, place them in a ziploc bag and have your student return them to their homeroom teacher.
