SAFETY AND SECURITY REMINDERS
Safety and security is at the forefront of our minds, district leaders, and our school board. The following are reminders for each of us as we spend each day here at our school:
All staff must wear their school issued ID's at all times when on school campuses;
All students and staff are to be mindful of leaving exterior doors unlocked and/or propping doors open. This is a major safety issue for everyone and should be reported immediately to the administrative team upon discovery.
As applicable, ensure that a designated staff monitors the perimeter of playgrounds and surrounding areas of the school during recess, class activities, and after school programs

DFES Volunteer Breakfast Celebration
Our program will begin with a welcome and musical performance (led by F. Myers) in the mini theater.
Following the student performance this group will transition to the cafeteria for breakfast by 7:45 a.m. By this time we should have little to no student traffic in the cafeteria. This will not require any additional responsibilities for those with morning duty in the cafeteria. Should there be any questions please feel free to let me know.

March of Dimes Campagin
The March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign aims to reduce premature birth in the United States and to give every baby a fair chance for a healthy full-term birth. Yet this fair chance is not reality for all babies. The preterm birth rate rose to 9.8 percent in 2016, up 2 percent from 9.6 in 2015, marking the second consecutive increase after steady declines over the previous 7 years. The March of Dimes Premature Birth Report Card reveals racial/ethnic and geographic disparities signifying that babies have a higher chance of a premature birth based simply on race/ethnicity and zip code.
As you all know, one of our core beliefs center around the aspect of Socail Action. Participating in March of Dimes is a cause that we feel, as a school system, is one worth participating.
To raise money to support the continued research to limit preterm births, DFES will participate in Penny Wars. The idea is that we want students to bring in their loose change to donate to March of Dimes; nonetheless, the twist is that we are seeking to see who can raise the most pennies to the cause. Please review the Flyer attached (Word Document) for more information.
Also, please look for emails going out regarding Penny Wars and March of Dimes.
Thank you all for all that you do!
