Final Newsletter - 6/12/2020
Congratulations!
The 2019-2020 school year is complete! This week we honored each of our grade levels, with our end of year awards videos sent out. If you missed it, the videos are embedded below. We are so proud of the work done this school year by our students and teachers - making the most out of a one-in-a-lifetime cancellation of school.
Every year, we take time to honor the ceremonial end of the school year. It is important to celebrate these milestones, as the achievement of completing a school year, or completing middle school should absolutely celebrated. While we were unable to have our normal year end celebrations, we sent videos out this week on the end of year celebration date for each grade. The videos are posted below.
Additionally: We will be delivering our 8th grade promotion certificates on Monday, June 15th from 10-2. We hope to see everyone at their front door! (If you are not home, we can arrange a pickup at the middle school later in the summer.)
Fnally, thank you all for a wonderful school year. Speaking for all the educators at MPMS, we love working with your children. No matter what the future brings, know that we will do everything to provide an outstanding education for every student in Manassas Park.
Have a wonderful summer! We miss you and will see you soon!!
Summer School Information!
Summer school will be completely online this year, running from July 6 to July 31. This year at MPMS we will be taking a three tiered approach to summer school:
Tier I: Students identified for summer remediation (30 per grade level)
Tier II: Open enrollment for any parent to apply for student access to the summer school program, but will provide support on their own
Tier III: Algebra I grade recovery
We are also offering a specific ESOL support program for our non-English speakers to continue their work and language development. There will be support for any student with an IEP through our special education department
Students identified for Tier I and Tier III will be contacted by their teachers and school counselors to confirm registration for summer school.
Tier II is open for all students - information and registration will be emailed out Friday, June 19th to all middle school families.
Registration must be completed by July 1 to be enrolled in summer school.

Online Returning Student Data Verification Is Now Open
Parents of returning students must access the PowerSchool Enrollment online forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.mpark.net/public. The online forms contain demographic and emergency information you entered last year. You must verify the information is accurate or update any information that has changed. Parents will also electronically sign annual agreement forms for school district policies.
At least one parent is required to create a PowerSchool Parent account. If you have multiple children in Manassas Park City Schools, you must verify information for each student, however only one parent account is necessary.
- If you have created a PowerSchool Parent Portal account in a previous school year, please use that account to log in. Please do not create a new account.
- If you have not created a PowerSchool parent account, directions can be found at https://www.mpark.net/parents/directions-for-parent-portal.
If you have questions about your account, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
The completion of this process is required for all returning students. The online forms are now open. Please complete by July 31, 2020.

MPCS Food Services Continue! Tuesdays ONLY
The MPCS School Nutrition Program is providing prepackaged grab-and-go meals at no charge to all children ages 18 and under on Tuesdays at the main entrance of Manassas Park High School between 4 and 6 pm. Please note this is a location change from in front of the Middle School to the High School.
In order to minimize the number of times parents must bring their children to the distribution site, a weekly set of prepackaged breakfasts and lunches will be provided on Tuesdays. All meals will be the same regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Safe social distancing practices will be in effect. As the meal distributions will be set up as a grab-and-go, attendees should follow volunteer direction to ensure safe vehicle traffic and open vehicle trunks for expedited delivery.
