A Little Bit About What A Counselor Does...
As counselors, we serve in many capacities. We provide responsive services to students in times of need when they are going through a personal crisis. Additionally, we offer group counseling throughout the year on a variety of different issues. Students can simply refer themselves to us and we will provide counseling services as needed or provide resources for outside counseling if necessary. We also provide individual planning to students allowing them to explore their future and academic opportunities. Your child not only works with us in the office but also in the classroom throughout the year while we present guidance lessons that address the four student skill goals. Finally, we offer system support which addresses parent education, staff development for educators, community outreach and other areas.

September Guidance Lessons
1. Getting to know your counselors - Howdy Visits in the Library
2. Kelso's Choices
3. Lockdown Drill At Superhero School
Guidance Lessoned started the second week of school with all classes. Each classroom on campus will meet for guidance a minimum of three times per month. Our first lesson is what we call our Howdy lesson. Counselors use this opportunity to introduce themselves to students and staff. We explain the ways that counselors can support them and how students and staff can reach us for support. The next lesson focused on our problem solving model, Kelso's Choices. Kelso teaches us about the ways that we can resolve conflicts with big problems and small problems. The third lesson we completed, talked about the safety producers we use in a practice Lockdown Drill, plus ways to stay calm during one.

CHILDREN'S BEREAVEMENT CENTER OF SOUTH TEXAS
Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas was founded on May 20, 1997, as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Recognizing the permanent impact loss can have on young people, the Center was established to help children and families grieving the death of a loved one. In a culture that does not talk about grief and bereavement, and in a world that doesn’t “get it,” we do.https://cbcst.org/
