Dear Penngrove Families,

As we approach the end of the year, and look forward to many celebratory activities, I want to ask our community to remain cautious and vigilant in regards to COVID. Unfortunately, this past week, I have been reminded on more occasions than I'd like to admit that COVID is still present in our community. My principal heart simply cannot take any heartbreaks in regards to having to shut down any hybrid groups, or cancel any events in these final days of school so let's all hang in there for the next week and a half. Thank you!!!

I hope you enjoy reading about the amazing individuals below and their wonderful contributions to our community. We're so lucky!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and CONGRATS to our 6th graders who have promotion this evening! Wahoo!

Go Panthers,

Amy

Introducing 2nd Grade!

Bricks, Bricks, Bricks!

Still interested in purchasing a brick to display on campus? The #PennPTA is continuing to fundraise for the new playground scheduled to be installed this fall break. Engraved bricks will be displayed on campus and provide an opportunity to remember a loved one, a special event, commemorate your years as a Panther, or act as a great gift to family and friends!

Our first order of bricks have arrived and we are working on getting them installed ASAP!

We are offering two types of bricks for sale. The first is a 4x8 engraved brick with up to 3 lines of text and up to 18 characters per line for $100. The second is an 8x8 engraved brick with up to 6 lines of text and up to 18 characters per line for $200. You can also purchase a printed Donor Certificate for $10 or duplicate of your donated brick with a felt backing to keep at home for $40 for the 4x8 brick and $80 for the 8x8 brick.

Through your participation in this fundraising campaign, you are helping to build a future filled with playful memories and are making a permanent mark on our school and our future generation. The entire Penngrove Elementary community thanks you for your dedication to bettering the lives of our students! Order your brick now!

PCS Update for GATE Testing

GATE Update May 2021

Hello PCS Third Grade Families,

Every year our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) identification cycle occurs in winter and early spring. The cycle for GATE identification consists of a cognitive abilities screener assessment, identification and recommendation of gifted and talented students, and parent confirmation of their student being identified as GATE in our district. This year, our cycle has been interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The testing process requires that we test all students in person. Given the restrictions that have been and continue to be in place, we have postponed GATE testing in our district to the Fall of 2021.

When we return in person this Fall, we will test our current third-grade students (who will then be fourth-grade students) by September 30, 2021. We will complete identifying GATE students from the Fall testing and notify families of the results.

In February and March, we will shift back to our normal cycle of testing the third-grade students (who are currently second-grade students). We will review the results from those assessments to identify GATE students and share the results with families.

If you have any questions, please email Jason Sutter, Director of Educational Services jsutter@petk12.org.
