Dear Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians,
As part of our careful preparations for the arrival of your child next September, please join us at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School for a parent orientation program. At this meeting – designed for parents only – you will have the opportunity to meet a number of Middle School staff members, learn more about our program, and receive helpful procedural information about the transition.
*Snow Date is Thursday, January 26th. If this becomes necessary, you will receive an email and a message will be posted on our website.
Special Education Session:
Parents of classified students may meet with representatives of the sixth grade Special Education Department and Child Study Team at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Learning Commons. The Supervisor of Special Education, Mrs. TranLe Hill, will go over the key personnel in this department as well as program options.
Spanish Speaking Session: We invite all Spanish-speaking parents to meet with our Hispanic Parent Liaison, Ms. Acosta in Room 130 at 6:30 p.m. for an information session.
Building Tours: For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Middle School, please plan to take a guided tour of the facility – in particular, the sixth grade wing. Student volunteers will conduct tours from 7:15 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.
Presentation: We will start our formal presentation promptly at 7:45 p.m. in the Auditorium. The program topics include introductions to the leadership team, typical day for a 6th grader at LCJSMS, information on the World Language, Performing Arts and Mathematics program, the famous STOKES field trip, and school counseling.
Sincerely,
Mr. John Ciferni
